Which two European clubs that play in different countries despise each other the most?
To me, it would be Manchester United and Real Madrid. As a fan of the latter, I get pretty tired of hearing from United fans how we've 'stolen' their players, and how they keep touting themselves the biggest club in the world.

Football-wise, Chelsea-Barcelona must be up there. Clash of styles, controversies, pretty even head-to-head result, Mourinho connection, oil-money vs football-money etc. I don't think I've seen many Chelsea fans who like Barca, vice versa

There's absolutely little enmity between Madrid and United. Their president acted like an ass during the Ronaldo transfer but Madrid have been a good friend historically, they even offered to loan some of their top players to United after the Munich air disaster if I'm not wrong.
You not liking a club does not make a rivalry.

Arsenal and Barcelona. They beat us in a CL final and keep trying to steal all of our good players. Not to mention, they start playing dirty against us whenever we meet in the CL.

Real and Barca
Apart form that, I can't think of many internaitonal club rivalries that aren't just based on having happened to be drawn against each other in the champions league a few times. and both being succesful clubs.
Fierce rivalries seem to happen when the clubs represent conflicting ideologies outside of football, and compete in high stakes situations in football (Celtic/Rangers, Barca/Real). I imagine that if scottish and English clubs played regularly in important european matches, it would ge tinterresting... Any other examples like that?

Dinamo Zagreb and Red Star. Juventus-Liverpool games could be tense if they play more often. with the amount of jealousy Brits have towards Barcelona, Barcelona vs (insert your epl club) probably most intriguing nowadays.

Feyenoord Rotterdam really used to hate any German club. It has tapered off a bit, but they don't exactly like us.

I figured one of the Eastern European clubs would have some rivalry, mostly due to political differences.

Re: The most enmity between two clubs not in the same countr
I know you said European, but (and this is pure conjecture, I am sure some of our South American posters could give a more definitive response) I imagine there must be teams in Brazil and Argentina who don't get on.
That said, I don't feel like any international rivalries are ever that strong. The biggest things that fuel rivalries tend to be locality, regular head-to-head games, and fighting for the same trophies year in and year out. The Real/Man Utd "rivalry" is pretty weak. United weren't happy about the Ronaldo thing, I remember, but Real putting up £80m to sign him probably eased their sense of injustice. Other than that, I can't remember any transfer animosity. Head-to-head (and I was a bit surprised when I read this) they've only played it other 8 times in their histories.
As for the "biggest club in the world" thing, a lot of that is pretty subjective, based on estimated numbers of supporters and Forbes' valuation of the clubs, but it's not hard to understand why people would say Manchester United are the world's biggest club, but that doesn't create a rivalry.

Re: The most enmity between two clubs not in the same countr
Right now the only rivalry that fit the description is Chelsea-Barcelona definitely. As said 5DOM it's the only rivalry that I can think of, nearly every year they go against each other, always some epic stuff happened.
I mean seriously :
2000 : I think they met up in QF of UCL. Chelsea won the first game 3-1 and Barcelona goes into overtime to win the game 5-1 with a missed penalty from Rivaldo if I remember correctly.
2005 : Two HUGE games, Drogba sent off, Ronaldinho legendary strike, the goal of John Terry with the foul of Carvalho
2006 : Europe discover Messi then Ronaldinho playing at the Camp Nou like in his garden, with some backheel stuff and dude just beasted John Terry on his goal
2007 : Group stage. 2-2 at the Camp Nou with a incredible (lucky goal?) from Lampard and a late tying goal from Drogba with Mourinho doing some epic celebration. In the bridge, Drogba scores a wonderful goal definitely meaning he's up there with the best strikers in the world.
2009 : Semi finals. 0-0 in the Camp Nou and still some epic drama at the Bridge with the absolutely WONDERFUL strike from Essien on his left foot and the late equalizer from Iniesta on nearly the only shot from Barcelona in the game. And of course : IT'S A **** DISGRACE
2012 : Well, y'all know the story...
Plus, the Masia/Cantera vs. Abrahamovic. Messi/Iniesta/Xavi vs. Lampard/Terry/Drogba. Spain vs. England. Tiki taka vs. Chelsea mean style.
In Europe that's definitely the only rivalry. I don't know if each other fan hated each other but definitely each confrontation is ****' epic, with sometimes good football, sometimes nasty stuff, but drama is always here !

Chelsea and Barca is the only one that comes to mind. Its difficult to establish rivalries if teams don't frequently face one another.
