If that's the case then what exactly do you think Modric does well then? Modric is the glue to that Spurs team, they can only play that pseudo-fast flowing and possession based game that Redknapp had implemented because of him. He's a lot like Scholes in that sense, neither are amongst the top in assists primarily because they control the game from a bit of a deeper position, their importance to the team is not reflected in the stat sheets.

Well every time I've seen the Spurs play I've seen him just mess up the build up of the play. Also Scholes is a defensive-mid, while Modric is way more attacking then Scholes.

in his younger day Scholesy was an attacking midfielder, even Fergie one day think he should be a striker. For a short stint he plays as striker, didn't turn out well though.
