Re: Greatest players peaks
That's the thing though, CR7 can make up for the lack of a striker because he is a scoring machine. Messi can't make up for the weaknesses in Argentina because they are mainly in the back. Im not turning this into a ronaldo vs Messi debate. Im just stating that despite the lack of star power, Portugal is still the much better rounded team. Argentina could not hold Spain goaless in an important game.

Re: Greatest players peaks
Ronaldo's footballing IQ and decision making are fine. If he's on your team, you want him to shoot a lot of times. And of course he's a good passer when he does pass.

Based on WHAT?
Ronaldo knows exactly what he's doing on the pitch. He passes when necessary (15 assists are better than any of the players you mentioned sans Ronaldinho) and I don't think any coach has a problem with the kind of shots he takes when he produces the kind of results he does. 'IQ' is a very weak argument.

Based on talent level and IQ. Ronaldo is one-dimenshional scorer basically. You go just for raw numbers of assists. Its silt. I think you understand yourself, that IQ of Cristiano in way below these others guys. I repeat it: he is like Kobe in basketball - great ego, took a lot of shots without effiency, passes the ball rare and witout will. He scores in basketball terms witout flaw of offense. And like the playmaker he howhere near Ronaldinho, Messi, and obviously Zidane. These quys played with team and Cristiano played with himself (like Kobe).

I've seen your posts on the PC board, you're a much more educated NBA fan than that. You're going by the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) media version of Kobe as some kind of selfish gunner. When in truth he's one of the best players ever at making his team-mates better.
Talent doesn't mean jack unless you use it.
Facts are facts. Zidane played for an absolutely loaded Real Madrid team (Figo, Ronaldo, Raul, etc.) through his prime and never produced close to the results that Ronaldo has in '08 and '12 with a much worse supporting cast.
Messi is probably superior to Ronaldo statistically but that's if you look at them in a vacuum. He doesn't have the big game record that CR7 does.
And Ronaldinho is a much superior playmaker but his goalscoring is nowhere close. He may be a fancy dribbler with some great moves but it comes down to whether you can beat your man or not, and Ronaldo does that just as well.
You harp on Ronaldo's playmaking but none of the players you mentioned except Messi are in his galaxy as a goalscorer.

I've never heard anyone mention Ronaldo as more of a big game player than Messi. As a matter of fact, it was not that long ago that Ronaldo was known for disappearing in big games. He's become a big game player since arriving to Madrid.

I think you are more educated in NBA too. And you get the criteria of the NBA stats and go to the football analysis. Its wrong. Actually, its not media. its Kobe ego and his selfishness. Its obvious think, why media& Watch the games witi him.
Zidane was much better playmaker and scored more big goals than Ronaldo. Their IQ and teamgame isnt comparable. His touch, passing, even free-kicks were better.
Messi is in another league: he is much better in stats, better winner, more big-game goals, less shoking like Cristiano. He better dribbler, scorer, ppasser.
Ronaldinho was much better playmaker, creator, dribbler. He passed the ball brilliantly. And was unselfish.
Stats dont tell all story, ESPECIALLY in european football. Its not basketball.
