FSC and their nightly mention of racism at European matches

Post#1 » by Blank_Name » Fri Mar 15, 2013 5:11 am

 Give it up already

Those countries don't care nor want to be multicultural. I'd love to see UEFA even try and touch big clubs like Inter Milan. The racism goes beyond a silly sport.

Like I said, those countries (as in most of Europe) don't care about being labeled racist by UK & USA. UEFA needs those countries more than they need UEFA. So it's a pointless battle.

Like Dani Alves stated a couple months ago: "I know that things are being done to fight against this, but it still takes place," Alves said. "For me, it is a lost war. I have been in Spain for 10 years and it has happened since the first day."

The only thing that can be done is players choosing to avoid playing in these countries. Eventually the teams will suffer in European competition and fans will have to decide what is more important: racism OR winning titles.

It just cracks me up that Europe is personally going through major self identity and UEFA strolls in with their 2 cents about football. Seems more to me like Western Europe trying to force their melting pot ideals on nations that want no part of it. Is anyone forcing the EPL to participate in European Competition? Surely you remember the witch hunting done by BBC in preparation for EURO 2012 because of hosts Poland & Ukraine.

FSC reporting: "There even was an inflatable banana in the crowd".

not sure what your argument is here? that it is ok to make monkey chants or throwing bananas on the field? that uefa and media should be silent and just sweep racism under the rug?

don't think there is any kind of consensus regarding multiculturalism in europe but it is apparent clubs don't mind it at all, every league has multiple clubs that employ black footballers and they deserve the same respect as their white counterparts.

More like those clubs should rather be excluded form playing in Europe or forced to play with closed doors.

That would probably mean no major club plays in Europe, but I do agree that things need to be improved.

Playing with closed doors would be the best solution. The club still gets TV money and sponsorship, winning earnings but still loses gate receipts from home fans. It'd also be demoralizing to have just away support in home arenas.

That it will never work. Europeans do have a consensus regarding multiculturalism and it is a negative one

Are you familiar with Germany's chancellor or France's President?

Attempts to build a multicultural society in Germany have "utterly failed", Chancellor Angela Merkel says.
She said the so-called "multikulti" concept - where people would "live side-by-side" happily - did not work.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy declared Thursday in a nationally televised debate that multiculturalism was a "failure," warning that such a concept fostered extremism.

Of course clubs don't mind, they are a business. Corporations are not people and thus do not worry about issues like sustaining quality of life. Statistics have shown that Non European immigrants in Europe are diluting the system. Europeans love their football but they are not willing to sacrifice their quality of life in exchange for superior sports (Like the USA does).

Is doing a monkey chant or throwing a banana worse than calling someone an alcoholic or going after their family, which is common in American sports?

Western Europe is a melting pot because of centuries of Imperialism and there is no way to reverse a melting pot except out right Genocide. But the rest of the Europe is more than happy to be closed off from Non European immigrants in exchange for not competing in European competition. There are only 8 or so clubs in the entire Continent that are viable UCL title contenders anyway.

Angela Merkel changes her opinion (that quote is from 2010) more often than I change my undershirt. That being said, racism has no place in soccer or in society.

This has served well for them I suppose.

I don't a society being homogeneous necessitates racism.

i doubt merkel and sarkozy condones monkey chants and throwing bananas to evra, mbiwa, boateng and cacau.

also calling somebody alcoholic clearly is not same as racist chants, you'd have to be completely oblivious to european history to think so.
