Just ask yourself...would a player currently rather go to Borussia Dortmund, Inter Mailand, Liverpool or Fenerbahce?
For a player, what matters most is cash, having a chance to win titles and playing in the CL. Dortmund offers anything of that. And they certainly have a more competitive team than Milan, Napoli, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Inter, Liverpool, Arsenal or Atletico Madrid in place to challenge Bayern.
And Massimo didn't come up with this monopoly talk until Götze (who grew up next to Munich) announced going to Bayern.
All-time of course Bayern is the most successful team in Germany but what matters in soccer is today. You can take the past 5-7 years in consideration. Anything else is almost irrelevant. New players, new coaches, new system, etc.
Bayern certainly has an economic advantage because there are no investors other than Hopp in the Bundesliga. It's not Bayern's fault that Dortmund and Schalke have made poor financial choices in the past, though.

I recommend you to take your school more seriously bro. Even though we repeat the same stuff for months, you still don't understand certain things.
Galatasaray is not a monopoly because NONE OF THE FENERBAHCE PLAYERS ANNOUNCED THAT I WANT TO PLAY FOR GALATASARAY. OTHER THAN GALATASARAY I DON'T WANT TO GO TO EVEN REAL MADRID OR MANCHESTER UNITED. WE DIDN'T SIGN THEIR BEST PLAYER WITH THE RELEASE CLAUSE.
There are still great players that went to Fenerbahce throughout three years. Salih Ucan, Alper Potuk, Hasan Ali Kaldirim. Galatasaray made offers to these players but they chose Fenerbahce.
Don't you understand? In order to be monopoly you have to be the only ONE. Galatasaray was being rejected by so many Turkish players. We are not the ONLY ONE. But Bayern is.

If you don't think BVB rival Bayern right now you just haven't been paying attention to the BuLi before this season. It's that simple. Bayern have won the most historically because unlike their challengers Bayern have stayed at the top, but that doesn't mean that there weren't always challengers on their level, just that those challengers changed.

So what you're saying is Bayern can't be a monopoly because just last summer the best player in the BuLi snubbed them for Dortmund when Reus left Gladbach? Or that Bayern can't be a monopoly because Hummels left them for Dortmund? Amirite?

Re: Bayern Win the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League
This is at least eight(8) times, I am repeating this.
Bayern Munich became monopoly at the half season of last season. They started off great and it gave them a huge boost. Then like we said, they started to sign players from their rival(????!!!) team like we go to supermarket and tomatoes for $2.00. Just like that easy. Then rival team's second best player announced that he will go to Bayern Munich. He even rejected Manu and Real Madrid. This sounds pretty monopoly to me.
Show me one more elite league where a player says something like Lewa about Bayern. Give me an example from England, Spain, Italy, Scotland, Turkey, Russia etc etc.

Re: Bayern Win the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League
I am a bit unsure why you guys are that obsessed with the monopoly discussion. While I can see the points of both sides, I'd argue that Bayern Munich has at least a weak monopoly. There might be to much exception to strictly call it a monopoly, but there is the strong tendency.
As a Bayern Munich fan this is of course a very nice situation to be in. Actually there where a couple of clubs in a similar position to reach that situation, but no management was able to pull it like the Bayern management did. They created a unique situation and while also some other clubs were able to dominate the league, no one else good reach it with that success as Bayern did.
Thanks to the last two years of Dortmund, as well as the mistakes of Bayern from 2002 to 2007, they are finally try to reach a similar kind of "monopoly" over the rest of Europe as well. As I stated before in the Bundesliga thread, starting at 2015-2018 Bayern will be the most stable financial power house in Europe. They will be the first European top club which will be debt free. That means, that they actually can spend all of their revenues and don't have to pay debts and interest rates. More and more money is already free for transfers.
This will have a major effect on the other European top clubs. Bayern started to seriously spend money in the 07/08. Since than they competed in three Champions League finals and won one of them.
Combine the economic power, how they operate effectively, and the history they already have with the new superior spending power. And with superior spending power I mean not only at a national level, which they already have since ever. They will have an amount of €70m to €165m only for players. You might also take into account that the new FFP will be at least a little handicap for the clubs with investors like PSG and Monaco, which have no comparable revenue.
The effect of this can be seen in the last two. While we could count Götze as the typical Bayern transfer and include him in the "German monopoly approach", Martinez and Thiago are a different topic. They reportedly chose Bayern Munich over the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, which are considers as the top teams. Few years ago this was unthinkable. Can not really think about non German players who chose Bayern over one of the other clubs (including also the former top teams from Italy). Bayern was seen as a good team, but wasn't an adored destination like Barca, Manchester United, Real Madrid. As Bayern fan I saw so many good players linked with our club, but preferred another on at the end. Bayern's fans really suffered a lot (also on a high level).
Bayern was secretly working to extend the monopoly on the rest of Europe. And while that might not be possible to 100%, I expect Bayern Munich to be the one most stable successful club at a high level in Europe. They might not win the CL every year, but they will compete for it every year (accident happens, like Bayern didn't always win the German cup). I also expect that all of the top clubs will now have serious concerns as soon as Bayern Munich is interested in one of the players they'd like to purchase.
Well, what does that mean for the Bundesliga. The whole league got a ton of hype in the last season. Revenues are growing nice. I expect at least Dortmund and Schalke to be competitive at an international level. Both of them decreased there debts while increasing their revenues. They should do fine internationally. Within the German league they really have to hope on mistakes from Bayern Munich.
What a lovely time it is to be a Bayern Munich fan

Re: Bayern Win the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League
So you're prepared to call them a monopoly because of 6 months, or hell if we go back tot he Javi transfer a year? That's sillier than using their historical standing as the only club that has stayed at that highest level through the vast majority of the BuLi's history to make such a claim. Bayern are easily the biggest, most attractive and powerful club in germany, but they are no monopoly and it will take them a few years of unstopped dominance and pilfering to make themselves one. In the mean time we can just watch to see whether Kloppo has once again taken the money he was given for a leaving star and made the team stronger with it. Since I think that is the case and Bayern will regress a little because last year's focus and drive is simply not repeatable, I suspect this conversation will look very different when Lewa does sign for Bayern next summer.

Re: Bayern Win the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League
Bayern looks like Madrid from 2012; their second stringers look better than most of the first teams in the rest of their respective league. That being said, I think it takes a year or so for Pep's stamp to be made on a side that just won a treble. I predict a slightly better season than what Benitez was able to do with Inter, but only because Pep is a better manager and Bayern has better players available. Because there's a lot of young talent on the squad and they are looking to strengthen even more with Lewandowski next year, I don't see them dropping off the way that Inter did either.
I'm sure the monopoly comments are only because they took Gotze this year and Lewandowski is next, and from their main rivals. It'd be like Barcelona taking Ronaldo this year, and everyone knowing that Özil is following him next year.

No way. I love Gotze but he was no more important to Dortmund than Ilkay, Hummels, Reus or Lewy. Ronaldo is by a wide margin real's shining star, Goetze could reach that level, but it's not like the others are old either. This is much more on par with Chelsea signing Rooney from United.

I think it's each league's TV money that gets redistributed based on performance. Serie A only had two representatives, so Juve and Milan each take ****.

Re: Bayern Win the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League
Yeah that market pool part confuses me. The two serie A clubs are splitting ~80mil, the three BuLi clubs are splitting ~50mil, the 4 EPL side splitting ~72mil, and the 4 la liga side splitting ~68mil. Where are these totals coming from? Is that the money they are getting from their domestic TV deals for CL games?
