Maybe, but I think CZKA are the best team in either league when healthy and if Zenit ever stop playing like a dysfunctional mess they can become regulars in the CL QFs, but they have been disjointed since the Witsel and Hulk transfers. Plus they have the most **** luck in europe, like just last game in the CL, Witsel got a red card for a nice diving tackle between two players where he played all ball, didn't have his studs up and didn't hit either player at all.
Porto have clearly been the most successful team from either league in europe, but the russian league has much better depth and they're not that far behind in terms of Uefa Cup/Europa League success. The Portuguese league would be above russia if I where to do a list, but Russia would be the next league after Portugal and I think they're in the same class, the same way that Serie has been above France but are still in the same tier.
I do find it amusing that you don't want to mention the NTs in this qualifying cycle :-p

Re: How do you guys see Portuguese soccer?
Oh so nice. Didnt know Realgm had a soccer section.
Well this might be a cry out or an attention making but where it goes.
Im from portugal 2 , im supporting Benfica. One of the historic clubs in europe and one of the most sucefull clubs in the 60's 70's and 80's..Down to the 90' and 00' start our club entered in the a spinal down dimension. Awfull presidents that almost destroyed our beloved club..we eventually bounced back. And in the few years we had such a great teams and playing beatifull soccer.
The thing i wanna alert to you is on the most disgusting thing that happen in soccer in all world. The corruption of one club..FCP also know as Porto. This is something thats known across all europe. Their president is on of the most if not the most sucefull presidents in the history of the football. But...there is a trick here. Hes also known to buy referees. And there is alot of proofs. There is hours and hours of wired taps showing him and " the system " fixing games. But since portugal is a country rulled by idiots and people that only see money this all got away. Pinto da costa , porto president got suspended 2 years. Several clubs in the first league ended because of this. So you might think this all gone way? No , its still alive. More alive than ever. Platini knows this , blatter knows this. Even porto fans know this..but they dont care. The money talks louder. Winning at all costs its the thing , its not about the sport anymore its all about winning..at all costs.
To give you an impression ill leave some details of HOW hard is to win the first league in portugal if you are not named porto.
Ill just show you around some maths i did about our league. This is the percentage of wins that this clubs win their leagues :
-Barcelona, 88%. Juventus, . O Man Utd, 78%. Bayern Munique, 89%. Paris SG, 73%. Ajax, 75%. Celtic, 70%. Olympiakos, 86%. Anderlecht, 74%. CSKA, 71%. Galatasaray, 70%. Basileia, 67%.... and so on.
Porto have a 90% win percentage in our league..and benfica having 87% meaning that porto would win on every league in europe..thats something smelly here right? Last season benfica could had it all..eufa finals..1 place till the 29º journey when they played porto..and the finals of our cup. We win 0. He had some bad luck but he also didnt had the final champions grip to win it all. But the point i wanna make is..porto played CRAP all game long..and they would still win the games..1 0 , 2 1..they had the most penaltys in league..they where the team that had the less penaltys against..one more fact i wanna show you .. porto is the ONLY team in all europe that hadnt lost for the league in home. For 5years. 5.
This is not a whining thread. I like to win , but i like to win fair and clear. 20 years of this **** is enough. Im not home now but there are alot of videos showing you this ill just leave this video but later ill try to get you here the all wired taps in english.
One more thing. Pedro Proenca got the award of best referee in the world. Hes , one of the people on the wire taps , talking to porto president fixing the games. Thats how bad and disgusting this all be.
Feel free to take any doubt to me and sorry if my english is a bit rusty..not used to write such a long pots in international boards.

I'm not saying that Russian soccer is bad. I just think Portugal is above in both clubs and national team. You bring the win Russia had over us in qualifying, but you forget Russia lost to Portugal 2-0 in Euro 2004. Also lost 7-0 when Scolari was Portuguese coach. Games against each other are bad samples because they're small samples... but in general Portugal is closer to the top teams like Spain, Italy, Germany or Netherlands than Russia is. That's just it

About the best team to watch... Well I believe CSKA is good but I hate them. They beat my club in the UEFA final in 2005 and that's literally the only time I've been upset about soccer... damn it. And we played much better than CSKA all year long... but well that's soccer I still congratulate them for the win

How's Juan Quintero looking? I know that he gets limited play time, but is he productive?
He scored tonight. He doesn't have enough minutes yet for me to tell if he will live to the expectations but so far Porto supporters are excited about him. Are you from Colombia?
Yes I am. I try to follow the league., but it's hard due to no coverage in the u.s.
I live in Portugal and we don't have your league on our television but I can try to watch online. Any club in particular? I like watching your national squad so I can give it a try

Our league is not very good. All of our great players play in Europe and our decent players play in Argentina and Mexico. The only decent team is Atletico Nacional and I only watch them when they are playing in Continental matches (Copa Libertadores).
Now our national team is fun to watch when they are in form. The passing and attacking style is beautiful.

Oh I was just teasing about the NTs, Portugal's is clearly a notch above Russias, but at the club level I think it's very close, or at least close enough to put the two leagues in the same tier. Porto is more accomplished than CZKA and may well be the better club right now, but once you get into the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th teams in the league I think Russia has a big advantage which is why I view them as comparable leagues.
