Sure, we can say it shouldn't have come to this while being in a less than stellar group, but he played well when it absolutely mattered.

They've eli manning'd it. Muddled their way through to have a chance to advance and then came up with their absolute best when they absolutely had to. I love it.

Meh.

Of course he would have been trashed if he disappeared. He was expected to perform and his country was expected to win. We aren't talking about an average player.

thank you.
it's like saying "lebron is the best, he took miami to the playoffs".
ronaldo is in this category of players where the standards are just a bit higher.

The impact a single player can have on a basketball is many orders of magnitude greater than the impact a single player can have on a football match.

On our way to our 3rd World Cup trip ever. Solid result in Romania, even with the own goal.

Mitrogoal still beasting. Wish he would've shot the corner flag like a machine gun. His trademark.

So what? Bring Sweden to CONCACAF next WCQ so its fair to the team that are better than Mexico? If you don't want Mexico in the World Cup, blame Graham Zusi, not the system.

Beast performance by Moutinho yesterday. If United sign him in January, I'd shed tears of joy.

Obviously those were great finishes by CR7, but those through balls by Moutinho were just dirty. Most impressive thing from each goal, imo.

He's not even the first to do that, either. Can't find the photo but there''s one of Marcelo doing the same in Madrid.
