How many teams can we name that wear red and white stripes?

Who wears them best?

Which is the greatest team to wear red and white stripes?

5. Southampton
6. Sunderland

When some Englishmen moved to Bilbao in the late XIX century to work on the mining and steel industry they wanted to keep playing this invention of theirs, football; so they founded a club: Athletic Club Bilbao.
This team obviously needed to have a kit, and they bought the Blackburn Rovers' one -half white, half blue shirt and blue shorts.
A few years later this new sport had gained much recognition around the city. So much, that when some mining engineers had to go to Madrid, they founded there the Athletic Club Sucursal de Madrid. This wasn't really a new team, but the Madrid branch of the original in Bilbao. As such, they couldn't compete in the same championships and of course had the same colors, Blackburn's blue and white.

Some years passed and both teams needed new kits and they sent one guy to England to buy new ones. He couldn't find enough Blackburn's kits, so he settled for the Southampton's ones.

The Bilbao team adopted the full colors -candy striped shirt and black pants - while the Madrid team, which had gained a de facto independence, decided to keep the original blue pants.

With the years both teams parted ways definitely and changed names a few times, but the colors remained.

Well, sort of...

Didn't the stripes come from old bed sheets being used to make jerseys or something?

Fortuna Düsseldorf occasional years, too.

Wehen-Wiesbaden not really. They are usually all red or red-black.

Yeah but they have at points, low on the list for sure, but I'm having trouble thinking of any more. Grasping at straws.

Edit: wait, I think I have mixed up clubs somehow. There is some German team in one of the lower leagues that has occasional worn candy stripes. Its not Wehen though you're right. My mistake.
