Why is so much money on the line? Promotion pays that much in the EPL?

Don't forget the insane TV rights payout in the Premier League, too.

1-0 Norwich, shameful defending by Boro.

Bit of an anticlimax of a match. Norwich got business done early and defended their lead very well. Boro didn't really show up. Shame, as I would've liked to see Boro return to the PL, but Norwich definitely deserved it.

Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich.

Boring. When are the proper giants such as Leeds and Nottingham Forest returning?

I quite like to see teams like Bournemouth in the Premier League, but I agree about Forest especially. I live pretty close to Nottingham, went to some Forest matches as a kid. Terrific club.

Yeah, would really love to see Forest being back in the Premier League.

Congrats to Norwich and at least one german houshold should be happy given that Norwich left back Martin Olsson is Dirk Nowitzki's brother in law.

As a Sheffield Wednesday fan I am totally annoyed by your post. Totally ;) Fortunately we are now owned by a rich Thai who (part) owns one of the biggest seafood companies in the world. It will be us in a few years!

Anyway, seems I was wrong about Middlesbrough! Congratulations to Norwich. The reason the match is worth so much is the fact that they will get a payment of TV money in their first year and even if they get relegated they will get parachute payments (yes, they get rewarded for failure, massive bugbear of mine) with the total being 120 million pounds. Insane, but fact.

I'm glad Norwich are going up, their manager Alex Neil is interesting to me. He got Hamilton into the first division of the Scottish league and were equal on points with Celtic when Norwich grabbed him, they ended up 40 points behind Celtic in 7th. Norwich were coming 7th at the time and ended up finishing 3rd, they won 17 and lost 3 under him. He's only 33 too.

Merged, in hopes some people will decide to talk about the 2nd or 3rd division in England next season.
