Really? Referee gifted Nigeria their first goal with that incredibly ticky tack call. Nigerian player threw himself down.

Mascherano's arm is around him all the time. That's on him and only on him. Clear penalty IMO. The second one, too.

If that was a penalty, we might as well get 10 to 14 penalty kicks a game, since almost every corner includes 3+ handling others. Yesterday Mascherano didn't force the guy to the ground, but Nigerian was cunning and played his part.

Exactly. I have no problem with calling if he gets pulled to the ground, but on replay it is clear the Nigerian player wasn't trying to stay up or even get to the ball. He was purely looking for a foul. Good on him for fooling the ref, but the ref needs to recognize that and not get suckered into a cheap PK like that.

These fouls where players are playing for fouls instead of continuing natural motions sully the game. Same thing when guys leave a leg behind hoping for a defender to clip them instead of continuing a natural running motion and trying to score a well earned goal. Professional soccer players act like they are the most uncoordinated, frail, weak athletes in the world sometimes.
Only 7 Players in NBA history have 21,000 points, 5,750 assists and 5,750 rebounds. LeBron has double those numbers.

People who says that both are penalty should consider stop watching football.

Awesome performance by Messi and Banega btw
