Did one stupid person say that and then it caught on amongst casual fans or something?

Actual football fans should find that comparison to be extremely inaccurate. Can someone here (pref. a Germany supporter) think of a better NBA team to compare them to?

It fits. Argentina would be toast without Messi, as would Netherlands without Robben. We saw what happened without Neymar. This is not the case with Germany, who are already playing without their #1 offensive player (Reus). Ask 10 opponents which German they'd love to see out of the game and you're likely to get 5 different answers.

Neuer
Hummels
Muller
Kroos

have stood out and could be labeled on Team MVP of the Tournament depending on tomorrow

This still doesn't fit at all. Seriously reaching. Most of the German starters are well paid stars on their respective clubs. The Spurs don't have a team like that at all, they just have the big three plus Leonard. Also, its insulting to Pop to compare him to Low. Maybe beyond insulting even.

They also have a completely different play style. I guess you could call both teams efficient, but it's a completely different type of efficency.

Also, Muller and Neur have been miles above Kroos and Hummels. Kronos hasn't even been that amazing outside of the free kicks.

And I'm not sure the Netherlands would be "toast" withoit Robben, they may have achieved the same result imo. And Neymar going down didn't destroy Brazil, it was Silva's absence that really hurt them.

Hummels has been better than mueller outside of one hattrick against a beaten, broken and red carded Portugal.

the only reason, that everyone makes that comparison is, because, like the spurs, there isn't one great player but more so a team of great individual players unlike with brazil, portugal and argentina.

dont think any comparison is fair though, because one player has a way bigger impact in basketball than he does in football.

Argentina only has one great player? That's news to me.

Talent relative to the World Cup. We aren't comparing Germany to LA Galaxy here. Obviously the Spurs are in a domestic league & Germany are a National Team. But relative to Brazilian, Argentinian etc National Teams, Germany fits the description

"Different play style" It's a completely different sport

Let me put it this way. Which National Team would you compare to the Spurs and which NBA team would you compare to the Germans

Germany has three attackers better than Neymar, so the comparison is still whack. Yeah we actually build up attacks instead of just praying our star makes magic happen, but this team is much worse coach and much more talented than the spurs. These germans are a lot more like the heat, just too stacked for even a mediocre coach to hold them back completely.

Can we just stop comparing soccer to basketball teams? It doesn't make any sense.

This is really terrible. Especially because it came out 15 minutes before the game.

I have no doubt he will do his job. The mistakes he makes he will make up with running 13 km.

Did you just try to use transer fees to argue a player is better than others? lol gotta love the people that come out of the woodwork for the WC.
