Would probably say he had more talent than a guy like Mario Gomez who ended up with a way better career.

Volland and Firmino dominating their respective tournaments.

They have to sell them now. If they played for a big club(Dortmund, HSV and so on) they could keep them, but Hoffenheim are small and cant generate the same reveneu as those clubs.

Oh hush, you and I both know they managed to hold onto Calhanoglu and Oztunali easily; and aren't likely to be forced to sell Tah within the next year...

Well, it seems like HSV = Leverkusen's feeder club.

BTW: I guess Massi's jumping for joy.
After signing Poldi they might really strengthen their defense with defensive mastermind Heiko Westermann.
Now they just need to try and buy Djourou to ensure never being scored on anymore.

Geis to Schalke. Kicker confirmed it so it's true.

I have no idea what he wants there other than playing for the German 4th place trophy, though.

No, he wants to play for bigger club. Do you know that 4th place means qualifying for the biggest club competition? Something your little club will never achieve.

Schalke are miles ahead of Mainz in basically every aspect. Accept it and move on. It's how modern football works.

Not complaining that he left at all.
It was clear he would leave Mainz at some point but he had much better options than Schalke bro.
Atletico put in a 15 mil. € bid. Dortmund, Gladbach and Wolfsburg were interested, too.

Going to Heldt and Tönnies is just an incredibly idiotic decision.

Schalke finished Dortmund this season and were a Höwedes chance away from knocking Real Madrid out of the CL. Tbh i dont think Schalke are that far away from Wolfsburg either. They can also produce their own players unlike Wolfsburg.

Atletico is by far the best team out of those, but it's always difficult moving abroad when you're a young German. Germans have problems adapting to a different culture in the same way Englishmen or Italians have.

Gladbach has bought Mendala Egbo of Chrystal Palace.
The 17 year old can play either right wing or right back and will first play for the 2nd team.

Mainz will replace Johannes Geis with Fabian Frei of Basel.

The point is there is nothing to compete for at Schalke right now unless you consider the 4th place trophy a success.

Since dealing Neuer:
a) They ALWAYS blunder in the CUP
b) They've never been close to competing for the championship since he left
c) They always get eliminated in the round of 16 in UCL
d) They won't even play UCL next year
e) HSV-like distractions every year with Heldt and Tönnies in charge. Keller/Di Matteo/Breitenreiter as 3rd string candidate getting the job, KPB/SAM/Höger, Huntelaar getting a pay raise for performing not at all (while others who have actually performed relatively well like Fuchs don't even get a new contract)

- Atletico is superior as you said
- Wolfsburg CUP holder, CL participant & a better chance to compete for titles since more money available
- Dortmund CUP finalist, won the championship twice in recent years, also more money available than at Schalke where money is usually spend to give underachieving strikers a pay raise

Literally all of them would've been a better option than Schalke. Gladbach & Leverkusen maybe even, too.
The only positive thing that can be said about Schalke is that he'll walk into their starting XI given Goretzka is always injured and the rest of the DM/CM options are straight garbage.

Horst Heldt is going to find a way to screw Geis' career up. Hate to see him going to Schalke.

Heidel's only good signing of the offseason so far (along with maybe Latza).

Niederlechner and Muto are both rather expensive enigmas :nonono:

If he was to go to another club except Bayern, he wasnt gonna anything anyway. It is not like a team can compete against bayern next year. The way foye talks as if he went somewhere else, he would win some championship instead of 4th place trophy. That is not true. No matter where he goes, he wasnt gonna win anything anyway.

I guess that is why they won the double this season once again? Or maybe not?
Cup wins are considered an achievement in Germany unlike in EPL where most teams field their subs until the semi final.

Beating Bayern over the course of a season is obviously hard, just like beating Juve in Italy. Pulling an upset in the Cup however is always possible.

And lets not act like Bayern are the uber super team they were under Heynckes. In fact, they have regressed a lot in these last two years under Guardiola and will continue to do so with Ribery/Robben/Lahm/Schweinsteiger/Alonso's form trend going downhill in the upcoming years.

Unless of course they manage to pick up some younger, world class players.
It's not exactly looking like they will get that job done this offseason, though. De Bruyne is not going anywhere and other than that there aren't exactly a lot of players that would improve their quality as much as needed in the Bundesliga. Plus, Bayern seem to have trouble attracting foreign superstars with the new English and the ongoing Barca/Real spending power.

Bayern's best option right now is probably to give back all the transfer responsibilities to the criminal. If they let Sammer do the job for another couple years he's going to sign a few more Rode's and Kirchhoff's but forget the really important part of acquiring world class players. Without Hoeneß, Rummenigge doesn't seem like he gets anything done either on the transfer market other than having a big mouth.

„Schalke hat mich fasziniert, das Stadion, die Fans: Es ist etwas Besonderes, in der Arena zu spielen. Dort will ich nun die Ärmel hochkrempeln und Gas geben“, sagte Geis.

So yeah, if those are the things that matters to Geis, when it's understandable that he's not going to Wolfsburg.
