That pass likely wasn't going to connect to the Villa player so unnecessary.

Looked to me like Watkins was getting on the end of that and had a tap-in.

3-1 now with Asencio converting a PK. I feel I put the jinx on Club Brugge

Silly, terrible penalty, and that's the tie.

The Madrid derby presumably is the standout fixture this afternoon but I'm very curious to see what Arsenal do against PSV.

Rodrygo doesn't get the plaudits, but he's been stellar every time I've seen him play this year.

All I could think of in regards to the PSV-Arsenal match:

Inter, dealing with a lot of injuries, started Bastoni out wide in their 3-5-2...fascinating stuff! they lead 1-0 a few mins before half vs an average at best Feyenoord team that knocked out their city rivals last round

Not watching but this Leverkusen starting XI is giving me the impression that Xabi much like a younger Pep is outcoaching himself in big games.

No Schick or Boniface in the starting XI? Not smart.

This is Real Madrid-esque levels of Champions League robbery. PSG totally outplayed us.

Clear red card for Konaté imo.

Barcola is clear on goal and has control over the ball.
Konaté with a clear push in the back.

The only thing I can say is that Barcola hasn't really controlled the ball, but uh, yeah, not sure how this wasn't called. I did like PSG's sporting director screaming about this in the tunnel at halftime and Virgil responding "it's not Ligue 1 bro."

Men in Blazers podcast talking about recent history of Arsenal.

They noted that English clubs fared poorly in Europe in the '80s and '90s and Wenger and others noticed that Italian and Spanish players were more fit, could run more all game.

So he improved the diets of his players and discouraged drinking, like after training for instance.

One guy claims the introduction of pasta in the UK in the '90s also improved performance.

Um, I thought carbohydrates are out of favor now.

But has carb-loading been a thing in football?

Fully deserved win for PSG across the two legs. Thought Liverpool looked very ordinary for the most part, got sliced through with relative ease and if Dembele and Barcola had their shooting boots on, could have been a huge aggregate advantage.

PSG looks like they'll finally win it all this year, ironic it comes right after they get rid of Messi, Neymar, Mbappe
