Well there was a slight foul but nine times out of ten it's not called.
I don't really feel sorry for Poland because they were totally outplayed in the first half and their goal was offside.

i am glad this ref wasnt on the pitch for Turkey-Swiss game, there would ve been 17 penalty kicks with the way those two teams went into each other during dead balls.

This referee is not good. He was the one who didn't give Steven Hunt even a yellow card after he injured Petr Čech's head. From this even t I expect anything from Webb. He's a weak referee.

And of course a Croat scores the tying goal for Austria which happens to secure first place in the group for Croatia. Thanks Ivica!

omg what a pathetic performance by the german NT. I wouldn't say the red card wasn't deserved but the way they played it perfectly fitted into the whole game. if I were the ref I wouldn't give him a red card but on the other hand it was really stupid by Schweinsteiger b/c it's the 90th minute, the ball is really close to german goal and he pushes him. really stupid move. I just hope the UEFA will make it a 1 game penalty b/c it wasn't a red card worthy foul.

no way it becomes more than one game. of the top of my head, only time i remember multiple suspension in Euros was Totti s spit incident. this is nowhere close to that.

well when it happened I also thought it was red-worthy but in replay it didn't look like a red card so I hope UEFA will suspend him for one game only

Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who was sent off late in the match against Croatia, has been banned for one game by UEFA and will miss the decisive Group G match against Austria on Monday in Vienna.

Violent conduct is punishable by a straight red according to the rules, no? I think the ref was right.

I think it was a harsh red, but I won't say it wasn't a red.

Just a harsh one.

F'n idiot. I was clamouring for him to play all game, he comes on, looks great and then gets the boot. Moron. Now I have to see Gomez waste anything sent his way again.

Schweinsteiger has been a big letdown in the entire Bayern Munich and Germany 2008 seasons. I think GER would be better with Fritz or Borowski in the midfield in the first place.

PS: my Austrian friend is constantly harping that Austria will beat Germany 3-2, Cordoba-style. I will have to listen to this the whole time, believe me! :banghead: :D

You really saw the weakness of the current German team: our midfield play is too weak. On offense, we lack surprise moments, and on defense, we cannot keep the opponent away with 2-3 well-times passes if they apply pressure.

Our midfield can run, but lacks playmaking and technical qualities. Ballack is ok, but he has too little support. Frings has been injured all the time, our most creative guy (Schneider) is missing due to injury, and Schweinsteiger has been really struggling in the past 2 years. Leaves us with Fritz (superb runner, but zip playmaking qualities), Odonkor (ditto), Podolski (a striker), Borowski (more a defensive guy) and Hitzlsperger (he can shoot, and not much more).

I think you guys lack teamplay, it's the opposite of us (Italians): we have lots of chemistry but nobody who can consistently put the ball in the net. Toni's too tired from Bayern's season, same for DelPiero with Juventus, the other guys lack the experience and killer istincts.

How about a trade: our midfielders for your strikers

This is still gonna be Germany's cup to win.Only competetion we got is Portugal after the group stages and we'll take care of them when we get Shwin back into the starting lineup. Klose has been pretty dissapointing soo far, and he's really pissed me off. He rarly goes after the ball and plays soo lazy, mabey when Poldi goes back into forward he'll play better, but he's been bad so far.

Why was Fritz starting in the first place? :banghead:

because Schneider is injured?

but seriously, I wish Schneider would be playing. you can see the lack of creativity on offense now...
