TBH...this guy has never done anything for me. A rare 'klopp bust' imo.

Has to be a German thing. He bats 1000% otherwise.

Can't argue. His signings have been great. You go down the list: that guy rocks, that guy rocks, he's solid, he's amazing, etc etc. I sorta figured Karius would be another. He was pretty bad when he first played....I chalked it up to nerves. But it never got better.

Our defense is pretty solid as is. I don't know that we're world class....but I think it's no longer a big weakness. Klopp has a good crew here. Let's see if we can make noise. It's gonna come down to grinding/winning games like today.

As long as Lovren is out, we should be okay in the back.

Well this is bad....

Apparently Klopp didn't know about the trade. There is a 20ish second interview (on soccernet) where they ask him about Karius leaving, and he basically says "Hey....nobody even mentioned it to me. Woulda been nice. Don't ask me about it, cause I didn't even know".

Prob not a great way to go about things from our office.

Didn't manage to deal with pressure to play at big club.
He rarely made mistakes at Mainz. I remember maybe two or three bad errors in like 100 games at Mainz.
Unfortunately, managed to make the same amount of bad errors in the biggest game in his life at Liverpool.

Bad errors, and just a general discomfort. He never seemed settled. I never watched the guy before, so I don't know what he was like elsewhere....but he just seemed like a sub-average keeper here.

I think it's more than reasonable for Klopp to have a few guys who don't pan out. It is what it is.

Fairly uninspired game. This would have been one of those insufferable draws normally. Almost was.

Clean sheet, and 3 points. Ugly, but I'll take it.

Brighton is an underrated team, they play discplined football. They'll finish in top half of the league

Yeah, I hear it. The guy has physical talent, and can be a rock on one of his good days....but he's twice as likely to make some DERP mistake that costs us a lead. He's scheduled to make his return (tentatively) on the 15th against Tot. Our next game is against Leicester, and if we keep a clean sheet then, I don't think Klopp aughta mess with whats working.

Got some reality coming our way the next 40 days:
Away to Leicester
Away to Tottenham
Home to SouthHampton
Away to Chel$ea
Home to Man-C

This will be our first big test.

probably one of the tougher groups, but let's face it with half the teams qualifying no english team should be eliminated in the group stage, ever.

Last night, I read an article on Soccernet that was about Allison, and some of the 'cute' stuff he does. He basically went on to say he wasn't insulting the other team, or showboating....but he just does the things he thinks will help us. He feels he has the quality to chip passes over opponents, and that kinda stuff.

I was like "yep....he's gonna duff something today"

Thankfully we had a 2-0 lead at the time. But I hope a lesson was learned.

Good win on the road against a solid team. Woulda/coulda/shoulda been another clean sheet to boot. Our D is looking strong. I can't possibly hang this one on them. Just a goober moment.

"" "It was a 'reading the play' mistake by me," Alisson told ESPN Brasil after the game. "I didn't receive that good of a pass, we talked about that in the locker room, I spoke to Virgil, it wasn't that good of a pass.

"I also had all the conditions to kick the ball away and tried to keep playing, keep the possession. Everyone analyses the games. Obviously, I won't be stupid to make the same mistake. We have to learn from our mistakes. But it's part of my game, I won't be arrogant of saying that I will keep doing this. We have to learn from our mistakes. ""

So.....blames it on a bad pass by the defender, and doubles down on "this is my game...your gonna have to deal with it". I'm not sure I like this guy. Let's just hope we don't lose points at some time. We're doing good....I don't wanna dwell on this, but come on man. You done F**(ed it up today! Own it.....certainly don't throw your defender under the bus.

I think you're overreacting to be honest. His comments are normal and he clearly takes ownership of the mistake he made today. He also points out that him and his defender talked about it afterwards which is a good sign of communication in order to avoid a scenario like that from happening again. It doesn't seem like he's throwing anyone under the bus to me.

He continually stressed that he won't make that mistake again and that he needs to learn from it. Nonetheless, it is part of his style as a GK but he is not an arrogant person to make the same decision again in a situation like that. He stresses the fact that as a team, they have to learn from their mistakes which is true. :)

ehh...I mean you may be right. I might be a bit hard on the guy, but I really don't like him calling it a bad pass from the defender. Not to the press.

It wasn't a bad pass. He had control of it, looked up-field and instead of booting it like he TOTALLY should have....he tried a cute move, got stripped and it led to a goal. Just own it. The translation is a little sketchy, and perhaps he's not being as stubborn as I read it. Either way....good win, and I hope he learned.

I think you're ignoring the real point here.

Liverpool were outplayed for 30 minutes in the first half and most of the second.
