Hrgota and Younes are good kids and you've also been linked to both Hahn and Traore.
As for CB, Jantschke has done well there as the passing force, but I think he needs to move back to RB, so bringing in Schär or Ginter to replace him next to Dominguez or Stranzl makes a lot of sense and would help solidify your build up play and D. With that and better depth up front this awful start to ruckrunde wouldn't have happened.

I think the main reason for Gladbachs bad start is that Kruse seems to be out of his wonderful first leg form.
With him struggling and Arango injured/on bench they dont have enough scoring threats. Hrgota and Mlapa cant be relied on to consistently find the net.

Well, Hrgota hasn't really played well on the wings and Younes neither. Younes was also injured for most of the first leg of the season.
Traoré was nearly aquired during the winter transfer(Bobic said no at the deadline) and would be a nice rotational player that would add some pressure to the starting eleven.
Hahn's a good player, but technically limited and that's not really fitting with our team. I also have my doubts with guys that play just one good season.
Still, he's said to have an opt out clause for something around 2 - 2.5 mil.

I doubt Jantschke will go back to RB. He's playing way better at CB and we've also signed Fabian Johnson, while extending Julian Korb's contract.
I could see Dominguez leaving(he's not playing and it wouldn't look all that good if another CB would be bought by the team.
Though, no matter what, if you're Borussia and able to add a guy like Schär or Ginther, you just do it.

Well, Kruse had a gread start to the season but his form started dipping as early as the 2nd half of the first leg, when he started making bad decisions with the ball and forcing it.
As for those other guys:
We're just not deep enough to sustain injuries/form thanks to a really thin squad, especially on the wings and up front and should've added another guy during the winter break, when we gave away de Jong without any replacement.

Schalke is in hot water. They are sponsored by Gazprom, the biggest Russian energy company, where Putin is involved. Last week, Putin himself (!) invited the Schalke team to Russia, but with the Krim crisis, Schalke would get killed by their own fans if they did it. Now, does Schalke rather anger Putin or their own fans? :X
(BTW, the CL itself is also sponsored by Gazprom, so I don't think anything happens. $$$ > morals.)

If Wolfsburg pulls this off, I am sure that the BILD Zeitung will sell this as the greatest soccer miracle since the 1954 World Cup
Edit: As I type this, Bayern scores the 1:1

Seems like Hamburg will dig themselves in deeper trouble today. Down at home against Frankfurt and Stuttgart is winning.

Wolfsburg did a solid job but Bayern just have too much individual quality. Guardiola subs in Thiago/Mandzukic and they secure the win.

What Bayern is doing to Wolfsburg is honestly absurd. WOB is equal for an hour, and just like that, Bayern scores 4 goals. This is video game-esque.

You gotta accept that they are a superior team and adjust accordingly. Defend with 11 players, keep the clean sheet as long as possible and never try to play them on level. Everytime you are in possession you need to get off a shot that is either a goal or off target so Neuer can't harm you with a long throw.
I believe Schweinsteiger once said that the Bayern squad likes nothing more than if a team is coming out looking to play equal against them as they will have more space to create their own chances then.
Wolfsburg overpaced and then paid the price in the last 30 minutes. Overall, they played a pretty good game. Challenging Bayern over 60 minutes in an equally played game is something not many teams can do. The result would've been much better had they just tried to defend and go for the occasional counter attack, though.
That's something coaches like Keller, Hecking, Gisdol or Dutt as well don't seem to understand.

Re: 2013-14 German Bundesliga Discussion Thread
i really think it was not the overpacing. wolfsburg did a fantastic job regarding the positional play, they weren't pressing all that much, it was just good positional play: high up the pitch, aggressive when needed. props to hecking btw, i absolutely didn't see that coming.
what really changed the game were the substitions. especially thiago. he's already a key player for bayern, despite missing about half of the season, despite being only 22 years old, despite having to settle in a new country.

Ramos is such a beast. But we managed to equalize quickly. Hopefully, we can go for the lucky punch now.

Re: 2013-14 German Bundesliga Discussion Thread
While I really like Augsburg as a city and from the football aspect, I do hope that they do not make the international places. In general, I do not like the fight for the sixth place at the moment.
Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke and Leverkusen seem to be a good choice for German CL football. For the EL spots I am not sure. Experience told us, that most teams just do not have the resources to play in three competitions. This is valid for Augsburg and Berlin for sure, but I am also not convinced by Mainz at this point of time. I do think that Europe football would be a disadvantage for the future development of the teams at the moment.
In an ideal world, Hamburg an Stuttgart would have a competent management and they would compete with Wolfsburg and Gladbach for the remaining international places.

Trial of the decade for German soccer. Not declaring 18M to the German IRS is not exactly stealing a can of Weißwurst, Mr. Hoeneß!

As a Hertha fan, I'm not interested in playing in the EL at all.
Such a lame competition, not much money to make and it will ruin your season in the BL because of all the extra games and lots of travelling.

We might not win a single game the rest of the season but we're signing guys left and right.
Borussia Mönchengladbach has signed keeper Yann Sommer of FC Basel.
Sommer will be under contract till 2019 and replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Max Eberl also said that we were able to announce the signing because we reached an agreement with ter Stegens new club and that he'll join a club in another country.
It's going to be Barca, given that they're waiting on Victor Valdes to announce his new club, which is expected to be Manchester City. Valdes will wait till after their 2nd leg of the CL matchup to announce it.

for german soccer? for germany.
tabloids finally have something to write about... not about c-list celebs having affairs with d-list celebs. no, the boss probably facing jail time.
i can only laugh about it. typical case of "let's ignore the real problems".
you really think millionaires evading taxes is the key problem for the tax authorities?
last year the german "black economy" generated €340 billion in revenue.
that's about 70 billion euros in taxes. that's about 1/4 of germany's national budget.
but yeah, let's talk about hoeneß 24/7, that'll surely solve all our problems. ze germans...

Never really thought of Valdes as a top keeper, so I'm glad he's headed to City.
Ter Stegen should do well at Barca.
