It is not the end of the World ... We will get £80 million for him, and if we spend it wisely, we could do what Ajax have done after his departure ...

Yeah, hopefully we can retool properly, but nothing will fill in his void. Suárez was the main reason for contending in the League.

Maybe with the UCL qualification we can lure some quality players. Just avoid Andy Carrols.

Replacing Suarez with a player of the same quality is impossible ... There aren't many players like him in the World, and the ones that are close to him in terms of quality, are already playing at big and rich clubs ...

In my opinion, we will see Suarez being replaced with a couple of top prospects who might develop into world class players ... We have already been strongly linked with Lazar Markovic from Benfica, one of the best young prospects in the game ... I think that Antoine Griezmann or Julian Draxler will be the next target ...

Suarez is a bit overrated. He had a great season and that's all man.

Suarez is the 3rd best player in the World, behind Messi and Ronaldo ... The only reason why he is not rated as highly as them is because he is genuinely crazy ... I am not too bothered by his departure because we will get good money for him, and if it wasn't for the Bakkal incident, he would have ended up at Barcelona long time ago ...

Glad Liverpool fans finally realize he's gone. Its been pretty clear for a while now, people were just in denial.

As far as Suarez being overrated is concerned, I disagree entirely, a healthy Suarez, Ronaldo, and Messi are the top three players in the world. Suarez looked incredibly unselfish at points last season and his game really matured in a nice way. His passing game is underrated.

Good for Liverpool. Have major holes on Defense & Midfield. Would be greatly exposed in Champions League play

He was always going to leave, if Real Madrid or Barca came in for him ... Happens with all the South American players ... The good news is that he has signed a new contract in December, and we are going to get top dollar for him ...

Looking at how Rodgers is allocating his transfer funds this summer, I am pretty optimistic about the outcome ... He has already signed a couple of good players with Premier League experience (Lallana and Lambert), and is trying to get another one (Lovren) ... He has also signed a great prospect in Emre Can (midfielder, Bayer Leverkusen), and is heavily pursuing Alberto Moreno (left fullback, Seville) and Lazar Markovic (wide forward, Benfica) ...

Add to that the players returning from loan (like Reina, Borini, Suso, Ilori and several others), and we will have a very strong team next season, regardless of Suarez' departure ...

Top 3?

I would take Ibrahimovic, Yaya Toure, Iniesta, Chiellini, Thiago Silva on Suarez anyday.

LFC statement: Suarez to leave

11th Jul 2014

Liverpool Football Club today issued the following statement in relation to the future of Luis Suarez.

Liverpool FC confirms that Luis Suarez will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona. The player now has permission to complete the usual formalities, which will then conclude the transfer.

We would like to thank Luis for his contribution and the role he played in helping bring Champions League football back to Anfield.

Everyone at Liverpool Football Club wishes Luis and his family well for the future.

Statement from Luis Suarez

11th Jul 2014

Luis Suarez today issued the following statement to the club's official website, Liverpoolfc.com.

"It is with a heavy heart that I leave Liverpool for a new life and new challenges in Spain. Both me and my family have fallen in love with this club and with the city.

"But most of all I have fallen in love with the incredible fans. You have always supported me and we, as a family, will never forget it, we will always be Liverpool supporters.

"I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision. This club did all they could to get me to stay, but playing and living in Spain, where my wife's family live, is a lifelong dream and ambition. I believe now the timing is right.

"I wish Brendan Rodgers and the team well for the future. The club is in great hands and I'm sure will be successful again next season.

"I am very proud I have played my part in helping to return Liverpool to the elite of the Premier League and in particular back into the Champions League.

"Thank you again for some great moments and memories. You'll Never Walk Alone."
