Re: 2011-12 UEFA Champions League
Had an exam but I DVRed it. Congrats Bayern fans! From what I've read from Mourinho, CR7, Xabi Alonso, Ramos, and the rest of the squad's post games it was a hard fought match and they all had praise for the German side. On the bright side, this means Mourinho isn't going anywhere.

Re: 2011-12 UEFA Champions League
Real should've went for the 3rd goal in overtime. They looked fresher than Munich.
Overall, great game from both sides. Neuer with two really good saves. And lol @ Sergio Ramos.
When it was 2-0 everyone around me was like "Oh, Munich is gonna get destroyed today." I was just like "calm down bros. They just need an away goal to even things up"...which then happened at the right time for Munich. In regulation they were the better team and probably should've scored another.
In overtime, Real was better without creating too many chances, though.

i hope RVP rips the euros and somehow wins it, but FIFA doesnt like EPL players anyways. your talking about the ballon d'or right?
Can't see RVP winning as they do consider the success the player has seen with their club. No clear cut winner any more but if push comes to shove I'd say Messi or Ronaldo. Whilst Ronaldo missed the crucial penalty, he did score 2 goals to keep Madrid in the game into overtime and penalties.

What a game... Mourinho was surprisingly humble in defeat, maybe he is still in a state of shock. Gotta say, of all the players in Euro football who I would smile to see miss PKs, Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos are at the top of the list, along with Pepe. Sergio Ramos was just hilarious, couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Well, unlike Madrid, that ball travels directly to Munich.

Watching the replay, Neuer was pretty much set on gambling to his right and the Real players kicked everywhere but the left side of the goal.

yeah i see what you mean , doubt he wins with the way ronaldo and messi are scoring goals, hell if Gomez scores a goal in the final in munich and leads germany to euro glory he might even win who knows.

Re: 2011-12 UEFA Champions League
The CL "miss Finals due to yellow cards" rule is stupid. I understand keeping players out who were sent off (Terry), but bookings IMHO are far less severe. In the WC, all yellow cards after the quarterfinals are eradicated, why not do it here, too? As if the integrity of the game suffered if "offenders" Ramires, Meirelles, Ivanovic, Alaba, Badstuber and Gustavo played.
Edit: I dunno how Chelsea will cope with their quadruple loss, but for Bayern it will probably be
Alaba => Rafinha comes as RB, Lahm moves to LB
Gustavo => either Müller comes as OM or Tymoshuk as DM
Badstuber => now, this will be interesting. Either Tymoshuk plays CB, or injured van Buyten makes a miracle comeback, or even Breno (who is mentally unfit to play, long story), or Heynckes produces something extremely gutsy, like wheeling out U18 international Emre Can from Munich II
Projected Bayern lineup:
Neuer - Rafinha, Boateng, Tymoshuk, Lahm - Kroos, Schweinsteiger - Robben, Müller, Ribery - Gomez

Chelsea - Bayern Münich. Great final. I don't really care who wins this one, Bayern is a team I've always respected/admired/liked, and it would be a shame that this generation of Chelsea players would disband without winning the major prize.
Good luck for both, from a FCB supporter

If everyone's fit, our lineup should look something like
Drogba
Mata-Kalou
Lampard-Mikel-Essien
Cole-Luiz-Cahill-Bosingwa
Cech
or
Drogba
Malouda-Mata-Kalou
Lampard-Mikel
Cole-Luiz-Cahill-Bosingwa

Re: 2011-12 UEFA Champions League
^^Man, either way, that team still seems stacked.
Anyway, my pic of the semis (and up to now, of the whole CL) is this shot of Mou directly before Schweinsteiger's penalty:

Facing a German team in the penalties even humbles The Special One

I think tymo will get the nod too, we really have no other choice. Van Buyten even if he was healthy I'm not sure I'd like him to start, after the 2010 finals, I hope he doesn't start.
I'm not sure if there has been a finals with this many starters being suspended, if UEFA didn't have a reason to adopt the fifa rule regarding cards, this is the best example.

I prefer the Malouda-less team, though I'd not be surprised if Torres started in place of Kalou too.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Bayern should just say **** it and play
Neuer
Rafinha-Boateng-Lahm
Schweini-Kroos
Robben-Mueller-Ribery
Gomez-Olic
and go for the 4-3 in front of the home fans.

Boateng isn't Beckenbauer.

That's why they'd be shooting for 4-3 and not 5-0...duh...

Why not? I've seen multiple CL games from them this season in which they didn't look as dominant as the past seasons. I'm not surprised they don't win the CL this year. It's a bit of a surprise that Chelsea knocked them out, though.
