Nice win. But, I fear that it's only a matter of time before City will eventually surpass us now. Too many points dropped as of late.

Was coming on to pretty much say the same thing. 4 draws in 6 games.
There went our season. City won't look back now.
Draws draws draws draws draws. First year or two were excusable....but this is just ridiculous.
Lots to like about Klopp. Good coach. I really like him. But 4 years in, and I don't see us raising a single thing (of note).

Official Liverpool FC Thread
After all of the turmoil ManU has endured this year and Liverpool fans joining in on the bashing, it would be terrible if they advance farther than us in the CL, remain top 4 in PL, and we don’t win the league. They’re still in contention for the FA cup, while we’re out.
I like Klopp a lot, but coming away with nothing this season while MU makes a resurgent comeback is a very bad look.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Article from Sports illustrated...This is rich:
"Liverpool will reportedly lose up to £17.6m in transfer bonuses if Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho moves to Manchester United in the summer, with the Catalan club looking to cash in on their record signing after a poor debut campaign with La Blaugrana.Coutinho only joined the Spanish giants at the beginning of last year from the Reds for a staggering £142m, but has failed to justify his price tag this season after struggling to establish himself in the first team.
According to the Mirror, the Brazilian is keen on a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United touted as a potential escape route from Camp Nou, however, should any transfer materialise it could have serious ramifications for Coutinho's former side. A multitude of bonuses were agreed upon in the colossal fee, with Liverpool earning £4.4m for every 25 La Liga appearances he made capped at 100, with the Reds set to take a huge hit on that figure should the 26-year-old leave in the summer - as the midfielder is only likely to reach 50 by the end of the season. As the player is currently on 43 appearances, it seems likely he will hit that target, although a summer departure would see Jurgen Klopp's side miss out on at least £8.8m - a figure that could rise to £13.2m - owed to them."
Joining Manure eh?? What an epic fail.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Seems like historically we get bent over the rails by other teams when it comes to transfers. Good to see we stuck to our guns and got $140-some mil from Barca. Serves em right.
I'm hard on Klopp (I do like the guy, I swear!) but no denying that he's done fantastic on the transfer market. VVD completely changed our team's defense. I mean it was night and day. $75 was pretty impressive....but essentially half of Coutinho. Well done. He's much more valuable to us as well.
Couple guys I don't like much...and that Karius goalie was crap. But nobody bats 1.000

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Thought we 'officially' lost the season today. But we pulled it off. I had my full on Klopp rant ready to go.
I just hope there's a loss and a draw left in Man-City's tank....as I feel like we have at least 1 draw left in us. Personally I think we blew it a month back....but there's still def a fighting chance. Today's win was huge. I go praise VVD and then he does that! Sheesh. Still think the guy is top-class....but perhaps I aughta keep that to myself.

I think some of the Man-U "story book" stuff has been stomped out, but I agree with the overall sentiment. Klopp's been great. The signings have been amazing for the most part. The team really seems in a great place. I really liked Brendan Rodgers, and the attitude he brought, but I'd put Klopp right behind him, personality-wise.....and I think Klopp is a better coach, when you include the signings, and all that.
Would love to see us hoist the Prem title under Klopp.
But that said....like you mentioned, the seasons are starting pile up under his watch, and the draws have been our undoing. Really bad draws to sub-par teams. Luckily, this year has been much better....but we'll see if that little streak of draws killed us. This Man-City super-team leaves little room for error.
At some point, we're gonna need to see Liverpool hoist some hardware under Klopp...or else all the signings and good work is for naught. I was ready to move on last season....when we had 12 draws, but this issue seems to have been addressed, for the most part. Would love to see us win it, and let all this talk disappear. But if not....I think Klopp needs to bring the fans SOMETHING next season, or else we do really need to move on. Sad as that will be, we gotta hold the coach to a level.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Hearing some news that R-Madrid is gonna go after Mane this summer. Bastards....
Hopefully Coutinho is a cautionary tale for Mane. He's in a really good situation where he's thriving...does he really wanna throw that all away?
Will be pretty bummed if it happens...but if it does, let's get $120+ for the guy. And none of these bonuses this time.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Well....we have Chel$ea on the 14-15th. HUGE. Obviously the other games are big, and history shows I prob aughta be more worried about them. But if we can beat Chelsea, and actually win out the season, we have a good chance.
$ity have 2 big games left: Tot and ManUre. Both playing for that 4th spot. In an interesting twist, Tot play them 3 times in just a couple weeks...with the 3rd being the EPL match (the one I care about!)
Could we hoist our first title, thanks in part to Man-U?? Strange twist....but I'll freakin take it. Ole Gunnaaaaaar!!!

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Gotta say....I think soccer has the best format. I know the "big game" in football is alot of fun, and it's a whole party, and all that...but the way the entire Soccer season completely matters is really cool. You have CL spots, UEFA spots, relegation spots.....it's really cool. As opposed to B-Ball, that I stopped watching about 6 weeks ago.

What's this "Soccer" you speak of???

Honestly, you know that I love the NFL/American Football in general. It's my favorite sport by far. The season is so short & so I can't ever not get enough of it. But, I love European Football to death as well. My only gripe with it would be the numerous cup competitions (League Cups). As an American, the idea of having so many separate domestic cups is so foreign & always has been to me. Like the Carabao Cup, etc. have always seemed so pointless (Just have a league winner!). Secondary participation trophies are way out of hand & unnecessary lol. Also the amount of international breaks gets kinda ridiculous. Like, just play the damn season out!

Btw, how are the Lakers doing? I haven't tuned in.

The nightmare is almost over, thank god.
Agree with you on some of the cups, and the international friendlies and stuff. But I dig the FA cup and the CL.
Football is by far the best sport in US as far as season goes. Due to so few games, they are really important. Baseball is the worst. Holy hell.....it just drones on and on and on. Baseball needs to be 120 games. Basketball needs to be 65. Basketball needs to get rid of a layer of playoffs. I'm sorry....but I think the regular season needs to matter.

Winning the League & CL should be the only priorities from my pov. The FA Cup & all other Cup competitions don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Some will argue otherwise, but I don't really care.

Until we win the league....I could care less about anything else. Obviously winning a CL final would be cool. But it doesn't mean much for me until we we get a Prem title.
FA Cup is a distant 3rd. It's nice....it def counts as something to me. But I'll take a Prem title over 5 FA cups, and 2 CL cups.

I guess I'm a good luck charm after all because I stopped watching right before they equalized.
