Would you like to be in their position? They are obviously focused on the terrorism threat and now they also have to deal with this kind of ****. Grown men with no brains.

Is there even an effective punishment for these brain dead scumbags? Seems like once you let them in the country, they'll find a way to cause ****.

I know that England bans fans from leaving the country who they know about. They have to report into police stations when the match is on but Russia - they probably pay for their flights.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the week. I don't think England and wales Fans will have any problems together but I understand that there is no alcohol on sale in Lens for the 24hrs around the game. What are the chances that they go to Lille (just down the road) for drinks which is where the Russians and Slovaks are.

England have a good core. The Tottenham guys are good - that's 5 players. Rooney did okay in midfield.

Of course against a Russian team you need the speed and natural scoring ability of Vardy and the strength of Drinkwater. Would be good to have Albrighton replacing Sterling too. :D

I was very disappointed in Kane yesterday and Woy everyday.

So what they beat Turkey? And then what? No one says Turkey is a world class team.

Your team is pathetic. As I said, from Lampard, Gerard, Paul Scholes to we need Albrighton, Drinkwater.

Average core that can't win anything for sure.

What's up with Kane?
He should focus on camping in the box and look to score goals instead of taking set pieces.

I also think the referee in Wales vs Slovakia was absolutely terrible.
Taylor and Skrtel should've been sent off.

I love his attitude a lot more. The way he walks and look at other guys on the pitch is priceless. Like if we don't know him, one might think he won CL 3 times, EPL 5 dimes, like he is a legend player. Piece of **** couldn't win a single trophy in his lifetime yet acting like he is the best player on earth. This is how England is at the moment. Harry Kane is your superstar. The team has surely fallen off the track.

silly statement: Lampard, Gerard (who couldn't play together) and Scholes never won anything for England.

He then gets tired running into the box.

These three won more trophies than combined all Leicester players in their careers.

It was a good performance from the boys for the 90 minutes, Russia really couldn't do anything until the 92nd minute and England had all the chances. Just either lacked a final pass or terrible finishing (everything was straight at Akinfeev apart from the goal and that Rooney chance).

To be fair, it's not a major tournament without England messing up the first game.

I love how Massimo's gone into full tournament mode, ratcheting up the obnoxiousness to 11.

Could've done with a finisher in the team tonight. Embarrassing that Woy didn't even bring him on as sub for the last 20-30 mins when Kane and Lallana had run out of steam and the old Russian backline was ripe for the picking (as it had been all night long).

Vardy was the answer but Woy doesn't want to be shown up for the fool he is.

i dont think another arsenal player would've been the answer

not quite, it has statue of limitations

Hooligan fears grow as 1,000 convicted Brit footie thugs free to travel to Euros

THE highest number of convicted Brit footie thugs in years will be able to travel again this summer – just in time for the Euros.
By Harry Kemble / Published 22nd May 2016

Fan violence threatens to overshadow Euro
FEARS: Security at this summer's Euros is much tougher than at previous footie tournaments
Around 3,200 fans were banned from travelling to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

But with banning orders lasting between three and 10 years that figure has dropped sharply to 1,929.

That means more than 1,200 convicted hooligans without banning orders now free to leave the country.

I deplore all the problems caused so far but I think the English are more drunks who retaliate than the violent hooligans looking for a fight talked about here. As far as I'm aware the English problems have been drink and retaliating to local fans in Marseille and the Russians. I've had news this morning that locals have been taunting the Northern Irish fans too.

"just drink" is a pretty way to put it. i am sure most of us dealt with english fans and they dont just sing happy songs then quietly doze off in a corner when they are drunk. they get loud, obnoxious, and instigate often with racist and xenophobic expressions. russians and locals have their own problems and equally guilty but lets not sugarcoat english behavior.

I think No_20 might actually have a point about the French police. I understand that it's really difficult to avoid these kind of clashes between large groups of pissed up hooligans, but I'm more concerned about the fact that the Russian fans were able to smuggle flares and other misc objects into the stadium. Can you imagine if somebody got a bomb inside? This is a colossal, potentially calamitous failure on security's part. From what I've heard from English and Russian fans after the game, the stadium security itself was surprisingly lax in Marseille last night.

Yeah, I have dealt with it myself when I went to Spurs matches more often in my teens. Got threatened a lot by West Ham, Geordie and Leeds fans in particular. Almost always firm skirmishes when we play West Ham and normal fans and bystanders get dragged in. They seem to have dealt with it better these days, but the English hooligan culture still manifests itself in big tournaments in foreign territory like this.
