Re: England National Football Team Thread
I'm watching the England U21s vs. France U21s Toulon tournament final. We're winning 2-0 at the half, but James Ward-Prowse really is the real deal, this kid looks a cut above. I think he could be one of our next emergent talents. The Wolves fullback Dominic Iorfa looks pretty solid as well.
Loftus-Cheek has been only okay despite scoring a goal. He's had a few bright moments but overall he has been something of a passenger, as he often is for Chelsea.

Here's the squad for the Euros. Looks like Drinkwater missed out.

Drinkwater made the most tackles this season, but when push comes to shove can he hide behind bins as well as Wilshere?

I have no doubt in my mind that Wilshere/Henderson will get injured and Drinkwater will end up in the team anyway.

Woy is an idiot.
Next move attack is Kane, Washford and Wooney with Vardy on the bench.

Re: England National Football Team Thread
Why has he got both Sturridge and Rashford in the squad? 5 forwards even if you don't count Sterling as a forward (and if I counted him at all it would be as a forward for England in their 433 formation) when Woy plays with only 1 most of the time.
For me Sturridge, Rashford, henderson, Wilshere, Lallana Sterling shouldn't be in the squad before Drinky. In fact a number of them should be out and Drinkwater and another CB or 2 should be in.

That's an underwhelming squad, although all the big names bar france seems to be bringing less than ideal teams.

And even they're missing Varane through injury.
I agree with HIF, England could really use another CB. Jagielka was a bit rubbish at WC 2014 but he could at least cover.

I actually agree with Roy on this one, Dier has experience at CB and having him as a 4th CB who in all likeliness will probably not even see in the pitch as a CB, I like Stones as the 3rd CB. Having Jags in there wouldn't have solved anything especially if he's not going to play, just a waste of space.
As woeful as it is, the defence especially CB is one of the few positions were we have guarantees.
Bringing in another attacker however gives Roy more attacking options and a chance to experiment a bit should he need to. I also think that he's still unsure about a couple of positions especially if England rolls with the 4-3-3, and he's just trying to find the right player to play that Welbeck role on the left.

Re: England National Football Team Thread
Well, I've watched every game Dier's played since he joined Spurs, and I've never been overly fond of him at CB. His partner has to cover for him a lot, every one of our CB partnerships involving Dier in the 2014/15 season was poor (probably due to lack of Alderweireld, tbf). He's fine to rotate into the back four when Vertonghen or Alderweireld go on a forward run, but I find that he gets caught flat-footed often playing full-time at CB because of a lack of lateral quickness (which is a little less problematic at DM). Still probably better than anyone else we have, mind.
Of course, he's an excellent DM and can cover the back in a pinch, but we need him to stay in the midfield as he provides qualities that we lack elsewhere. I understand that we're talking in very unlikely terms since as you said he'd be 4th CB at best, but you can never rule out cataclysmic injury with England.

I don't think Dier should be seen as a CB. If he has to play there for a match then we are in trouble. Surely we can find 4 genuine CBs.
We don't need another attacker. Sterling and Lallana are down as midfielders but neither of them really are. I really see no point in them being in the squad. Rashford in was simply because Roy was frightened by the media into not taking him. Far too raw and inexperienced. Even though he scored against the mighty Australia he showed tremendous inexperience when it came to situations where he actually had to think. The goal was simply a natural strike. He could be good but this tournament is too early.
Our attack should simply be Vardy and Kane in EVERY game.

Leeds have had 6 managers since Jack Wilshire last completed a full 90 minutes with Arsenal!
Is this true?

Wilshire is the best MC that England has. It was obvious he was going to make it.

Answer the question.
And it's not just me who has issue with Wilshere being chosen, it's pretty much everyone except Arsenal fans, and even some of them are iffy on the idea.
