so for one big buy this summer, you'd take cesc over jovetic?

i love cesc but we need a striker

Hell yeah, Cesc would be awesome.

Can we buy a cheaper striker instead?

Check out Jelle Vossen. He flies under the radar but has been consistently among the top scorers in Belgium the past few years. He would be extremely cheap compared to someone like Jovetic, Aubemayang, or anyone in a top tier league right now.

Auba would be significantly cheaper than Jovetic, I think. I'd take Cesc and Auba for sure. Not going to happen, just in the hypothetical and all.

I'd take Remy and Cesc, or Vossen and Cesc. Hell, I'd probably take Steven Fletcher and Cesc ;)

It's a shame it won't happen

So, in spite of being benched this year, Szczesny is tied with Tim Howard for 8th place in number of clean sheets this season. I can honestly say I was surprised to see that.

With the solid pairing of Koscielny and Mertesacker in front of Woj, I might be more inclined to see Wenger bring in an older, experienced keeper (a former EPL #1 in their late 30s) to mentor him and step in if Woj gets out of form, instead of someone like Begovic or Mignolet. It would be a lot cheaper and in turn, would give us more $$$ to spend on other positions.

Maybe Cesar from Qpr, but I still want Begovic. Szcz made a lot of mistakes this year, and he need serious competition.

I like the look of Szcz since he came back and fabianski has looked good as well.
If Szcz can keep it up, Id look @ bringing in someone like Scharwzer as a stable veteren (ala Brad Friedel with tottenham) and let all three fight it out.
If we are getting a true first choice ala Cesar, Adler, Begovic, I would like to loan out Szcz for a year to gain experience at a lower tier team (hopefully still in the prem) then see what happens.

anyways, have you guys seen

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... al-1874661

If this is true, it will dramatically change are finances (taking into account the new emirates deal).
I think that will be equivalent to an extra 50 a year (or more taking into account most our old sponsorship deals where front loaded because of the new stadium). Now all we need is a training kit sponsor ala Utd.
Hopefully this could give us equal footing with the other 3 teams or close the gap atleast. and with the extra tv money next year, should atleast give us a chance to keep financially with european clubs (considering how italian teams are going.).
What I think it does more is widen the gap with the top 4 and the rest (Unless ofcourse some sponsor is really willing to pay that much to sponsor Liverpool or Spurs).
When you also take into account the larger capacity of our stadium, it can actually look like a good coming years for us Arsenal fans. (now let us make sure we get the top 4 spot)

Yeah, it looks to be true. Waiting for it to be confirmed on Arsenals website to be sure, reported to be the biggest around.

Great deal though, brings the money from kit sponsors up to about 64 Million pounds/year. Arseblog reporting it comes with a large signing on fee up front as well. We've added a few other smaller sponsors too, which should boost us up into the top levels for sponsorship revenue.

As for the keeper situation, I like Szcz but we need another solid option there. Fabianski is out of contract in the summer, we need to sign someone who can be solid competition and a bit of a mentor. Need someone better than Shwarzer, imo.

I don't mind dropping Nike. Their kits haven't been great, and our current away kit is one of the worst I've seen.

Just hope we don't go all tight fit like their ACON kits, our midgets don't have the physiques to pull off that look.

If im correct Fabianski has another year after.
For me personally, I like someone like schwarzer (especially as a no.2) as h is someone who is solid and nothing spectacular while I see cesar as the other. Can win you games but not the most commanding.
But lets see what happens.

What do you guys think of the rumours of Cesc coming back?

Doubt it happens , I think he'll be at barca for at least one more year.

something significant is going to have to happen for him to want out or for barca to sell him off

I'm with you on Szczesny. I don't think we need a permanent replacement, just someone who is good enough to step in and not be a liability if Woj loses form. I expect that every talented young keeper will struggle occasionally, especially in the EPL or CL but I don't think it means they absolutely must be replaced.

We don't need a replacement, but we need solid competition, imo. Ches did more than struggle occasionally this year, he was pretty poor all year until being dropped for Fabianski. Shwarzer is too old (42 next season), and not that good anymore.

I'd love to have Cesc back, but not much chance it happens, imo.

i think Fabianski has shown in the 5 or 6 games he can compete and schwarzer's age is really not that important. look at friedel who im sure is older.
I personally think those two are enough, but lets see. I wouldnt be against the idea of loaning cesar. but getting someone like begovic or adler for big money would mean that we are accepting sneezy is not good enough as GK is not a position you really rotate.

anyways, its in our hands now..lets complete the task for top 4.

Fabianski was decent for 5 or 6 games, but I wouldn't like to rely on him. Stick him in next year and you're just as likely to see the keeper we saw for years, flapping at crosses and throwing it in his own goal. Plus, he's fairly injury prone. I don't want to go into next season with big question marks surrounding each of our keepers. We don't have to spend big money on a keeper, but we need a solid alternative, imo, and Shwarzer isn't it. He'll be 42 next year, and isn't the keeper now he was two years ago.

Can't stand it, myself. Haven't really liked one of our away kits since 2010, I think.

I think Fabianski is unfairly criticised since he never really had any true run. At the same time he is fairly unknown.
I think we have to disagree with our opinion of shwarzer. I wouldnt mind cesar (in fact would love him), but i dont think it is realistic to spend say £5million + 3 year contract on say £100k a week on what you expect to be a back up (unless you really dont believe sneezy is the one).
