At my old firm he was the lead of some account I was on. Like a manager. And he was English.

I dunno about where you guys live but here in the UK Spurs fans (and Arsenal fans, actually) refer to Chelsea as 'the chavs' quite a lot. I guess it is kind of a UK thing, it derives from Chelsea being an upmarket part of London and chav being a slang term for the classic working class youth ned stereotype. I guess it's ironic or something, I just say it out of habit personally. :dontknow:

I'm looking forward to the game though. Whether we win or lose, our encounters with Chelsea always tend to be rife with controversy and entertainment.

It'll be a fantastic match especially on the wings. Mata/Hazard vs Bale/Lennon, the two best winger combos in the EPL now that Nani is falling off + Young's luster is fading.

I'm hoping they trot out the Hazard, Oscar, Mata combo. I know it's a classic "Be careful what you wish for" but i don't want Bertrand or Ramires helping their backs. I'd rather they focused on possession and became narrow.

I'm really not optimistic at all.

But I said the same about the Man United game and that turned out pretty well. :)

No Bale or Dembele, and Friedel starting again. :(

Not a good half...

We've had a couple of decent chances, but we're being severely outclassed in the midfield right now without Bale and Dembele. Chelsea look creative and dangerous on the break, and it feels like we have to carve out chances from nothing. Credit to Chelsea for playing well but Spurs need to step it up. I would like to see Ade in this half.

Dempsey was sleepwalking through the match, but Adebayor looked beyond abysmal and wasn't an upgrade by any means.

Adebayor was in for what, 10-20 minutes? Think you're being pretty harsh. If you're going to signal out a sub for a bad performance, that should be Livermore. At his best he was invisible and at his worst he was making stupid passes. Just not a top flight player. Not yet at least.

No Bale and Dembele really killed us. Bale especially, the pitch was far too narrow. We saw what would happen when Lennon got the ball, we needed that on the other side with Gareth.

Gylfi is such a frustrating player. He has a phenomenal touch (reminds me of some other ex-spurs CM...) and he's good on set pieces but he's average to bad at everything else.

Why was there no Bale? Missed the intros.

His girlfriend was about to give birth. This kid had better be a future Spurs legend.

Anyway, some positives to take from the game:

+ Defoe was EXCELLENT. Easily the best player in a Spurs shirt.
+ Were it not for some quality Cech saves, we would've gotten a point at least.
+ Given that we were understrength against a world class Chelsea side, we put in a spirited fight back to begin the second half.
+ Gylfi looked better. Sure, he was wasteful with his chances, but he was getting into some nice positions and looked like more of a factor.
+ Arsenal lost to Norwich so who even cares about anything else.

And negatives.

- Defence was atrocious. Nothing more.
- Walker had a terrible game. Tiredness is fine, but his complete lack of concentration has cost us again.
- Where was Lloris? I feel like he could've saved one or two of those goals.
- Dempsey didn't do anything worthwhile, in fact he cost us possession frequently. It's tough to be played out of position for any duration of the game, but he looks out of sorts lately.

I agree with all of your points, Gallas is starting to show his age and it's odd that Dawson is so out of favor he hasn't even played a league match yet. Lloris would be much better on second saves and I think it might be time for a switch. Defoe played very well again, but without a goal scorer like Bale to spread the pitch we were seriously lacking in attacking options.

Glad Arsenal lost though, and we're still near the top of the table since Chelsea is demolishing everything in their path. I think it was encouraging that we had more shots/shots on target than Chelsea, and they were good ones as well. If we had a full side maybe the result would have been different, but one thing really stood out in my mind. If Lennon was able to torch Ashley Cole that badly imagine what Bale would have been able to do to Ivanovic.

Oh well, always next week. I think we might have 3 matches this week actually. Carling Cup, Europa BPL.

I think Gallas needs to hit the bench in favor of bringing Naughton in to fill an outside fullback position. Poor clearances cost us a couple goals against Chelsea, that wouldn't have happened if Vertonghen was brought to the centre of the pitch where he's MUCH better anyway. IDK why AVB insists on making him an LB, takes away what he's best at and exploits his weaknesses. ANd really, you can't expect him to stay with the speedy wingers of the EPL. Please move him back to CB!

Benoit back in training in 2 weeks, good news. But what the heck is going on with Dembele's hip? With him and Parker out we're kinda screwed unless Sigurdsson steps his game up.

Goddamn Kyle Walker sucks right now. Didn't bother closing the Maribor player down and we're 1-0 down despite that being pretty much their only attack.

We need another RB to give him competition for his place, because he's playing like crap.

From what I've seen I think he's having some confusion as to what an attacking fullback should and should not do. You can attack past half field, but don't look to make those moves from the backfield where you should be a more traditional FB. He's been late on assignments and bad on air through balls. Naughton is a natural RB maybe he can steal away some time?

God, we need Bale back ASAP. We look flat without him. And lol at Huddlestone's 'tackle' on the Maribor goal...

I can say with complete honesty that Walker has been responsible for 5-6 of the goals we've conceded so far this season. His defensive awareness is just atrocious, I can't count the number of times he's lost track of someone running in from the flank whilst ball watching, and they've either scored directly themselves or assisted a goal.

Don't get me wrong, he's a phenomenal talent and is elite at the right back position in going forward and attacking play, but he needs to round out his game to reach his full potential.

And yeah Huddlestone's 'defending' for that goal was absolutely laughable.
