Champions Route:
Astana vs APOEL Nikosia
Celtic vs Malmö
Korce vs Dinamo Zagreb
Basel vs Maccabi Tel Aviv
BATE Baryssau vs Partizan Belgrade

League Route:
Lazio vs Leverkusen
Manchester United vs Brugge
Sporting vs CSKA Moscow
Rapid Vienna vs Shakhtar Donezk
Valencia vs Monaco

probably astana, partizan, lazio, brugge, sporting, rapid wont be able to make it tough.
:-?

how could you hope for brugge instead of one of the biggest brands in the world? it is a shame united has to play such scrub clubs to qualify, if anything they should be automatically placed in semi finals because of their name recognition.

In reality BOTH should make the group stage.

Brugges is no slouch and belgian league used to be strong.
13 leagues
11 cups
13 supercups
and also managed to get to the final in the Uefa cup and in the Cup winners cup once each and some semi finals.
if not for bosman rule half the Belgium national team would play in brugges and half of them in anderletch and they woudl actualy be a real threat.

i was wondering.......... could 6 teams from the same league make it to the Champions league?

i mean.
Lets say Arsenal/Sevilla/MOenchengladbach wins the CL but ends 5th in the league.
then Tottenham/Dortmund/Bilbao wins the El but ends 6th in the league.

Would that country get 6 CL teams? or the 4th qualyfied in the league would get bumped down to EL.?

So looked it up and it's actually 5 points for advancing to the round of 16 in the CL, not 4; which is the big difference between the EL and CL. As, due to the extended qualifying for the EL, teams actually get nearly as many points for making the group stages in both competitions; and you get 2 points for a win in the groups stages and beyond in both competitions, with 1 more point coming for making the QF/SF/final.

So if Lazio losses to Bayer here, then the BuLi pretty much guarantees a stronger season than Italy as Serie A will have just 2 clubs capable of getting that CL-knockout stage bonus vs the 4 BuLi clubs who'd still have a shot at those points.

wrong, it is 4 points. http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/news/newsid=1592815.html

and lazio's unlikely loss doesnt guarantee anything but keep betting on germany getting through with 4 teams again even with 2 of them essentially locked in pot 4, that avatar tells me you going with your gut is better for the amusement of this board.

Yeah, somehow I looked at that and read 5...really need to get some sleep one of these nights :-? ...Either way Lazio's probable loss guarantee's germany a 6 point advantage just from group participation, nevermind how much more likely it is that at least one of Bayer/BMG/VFL advance than Roma does. So yeah, even if the stars align for Serie A again it won't be enough if Lazio can't pull off the upset here :wink:

Lazo has a great attack with Candreva, Klose, and Felipe Anderson who was maybe the best player in Serie A last year not on Juve. Biglia is great in midfield, but their defense is where they lack...only De Vrij seems to be CL material. Would be quite a bit to expect them to beat Leverkusen. Was seriously hoping they drew Sporting

Lazio:
Berisha;
Basta, De Vrij, Mauricio, Lulic;
Onazi, Biglia, Parolo;
Candreva, Klose, Felipe Anderson

probably Lazio's strogest lineup. Mauricio is weak link.

they haven't won a game all summer and Leverkusen must be in better shape considering BuLi already started. Felipe Anderson is Lazio's best player but I always preferred him in the center rather than out wide... Leverkusen should advance after the two legs but Lazio have what it takes to qualify

Hibert is Leverkusen's biggest weakness, so I can see the logic of putting Lazio's biggest threat up against him.

I wonder if Calhanoglu does anything in open play today? For how spectacular his set pieces can be his actually play is pretty crap; kid's truly the turkish Beckham.

Well hopefully they bring Mehmedi and Brandt on early, cause those two were fun to watch against Hoffenheim as they have a great understanding already.

Miro <3 Getting to watch him play almost makes one want to forgive Lazio for their fascist fanbase.

Wendell looks to be really into the match so far. Lazio's been the better side so far. But the young brazilian LB is a big time talent who can drive the play if he's feeling it.

EDIT: and Lazio fans are already being warned that the game will be called off if they keep up the racist chants. Glad that those **** just had to be themselves and remind me why even Miro can not redeem that scum.

Leverkusen should just give the ball to Wendell or Tah and hope for more stupidity.
