Just finished watching the game on repeat, I must say Tammy would bury a lot of those chances Chelsea had. I've seen that Inter will consider a Lukaku return (I don't know if it's totally true)

Where ya at stormzy?? Have I got a bowl of memberberries for you.

Remember that one time you pined for a midtable Getafe loanee who plays as a backup striker for them as the fix to Chelsea's winger problem? Remember that one time you had a hissy fit about Real Madrid in the same post while ignoring that Borja is owned by Real for several years now?
Remember that one time you misread a point about 433 vs 3atb tactical systems and then in the next match had your team schooled by it?
Remember that one time you argued this Chelsea, a team with just 1 out of the 20 most creative players and at best the 5th most squad creativity in the domestic league, had more creativity than a generational Real Madrid midfield that's won 4 CL's, 2 liga's, a BdO, and is sleepwalking to another la liga? #JorgoBonitoBrazilBdO2022

Heartbreaking result considering the fact that we had that tie. Straight bottle job. Huge giveaway by Mendy in the first leg, and then Kante just being a liability in that second leg + missed chance galore after RM tied it back up.

Shout out to Benz, who's an absolute demon. Vini is so dynamic too. RM adding Kylian to that attack is going to be unplayable.

For Chelsea, I think most of our key guys played well. Reece James put on a show at the Bernabeu.

Greatest talent Cobham's ever produced. Mount was solid, Havertz was solid, Rudiger was solid, Kovacic was solid.

Azpilicueta showed his age. Alonso was actually okay for me, but we need fresher legs on those wings. We missed Chilwell here. Kante is cooked. Finished. Jorginho too. Silva is a gem, but his age is also a huge concern.

Sleeper baller, Timo Werner was dynamic. He's looked like Leipzig Timo these past two matches.

Pulisic and Ziyech did nothing. Lukaku put on a horror show in the first leg and was benched for the second leg. Really disappointing at your price tag that you're considered a liability for your squad.

I think we'll be okay long term, but this squad needs reinforcements if we want to keep pace with the top teams. I trust in our spine though and Tuchel.

Hopefully we can win the FA cup.

New #1 target for Chelsea in the summer. Lets get to playing ball. No more crash and bang #9's with no tec (Darwin Nunez).

Olmo or Felix as a playmaker for Havertz/Mount and we're finally making strides as a club.

Tuchel made Rudiger the defender he is.

Christensen too for that matter.

I think we'll be okay as long as we allow him to build his own team. The last ownership / braintrust was getting it all wrong.

We need to stop chasing profiles and storylines to excite the corpulent alcoholic section of the fanbase.

Lukaku was that. And so is the potential purchase of Declan Rice.

Gvardiol & Kounde this summer and we're cooking again.

I'd say let the midfield suffer one more season with Kova + Jorgi + Kante + the remergences of Gallagher/Gilmour. Wait one more summer for Bellingham.

And then the signing of a dynamic winger or playmaker (Olmo/Dembele/Felix).

I wouldn't expect either to step in next season and be the player Rüdiger was.

Higher ceiling and younger. It's not the end of the world.

Chelsea also have Levi Colwill coming up who's the best english CB prospect since John Terry. And he's left footed.

If Rudiger stayed and Tuchel left my concerns would be 100x more severe than with Tuchel staying and Rudi departing. We'll be fine.

I think the midfield is in relatively good shape especially if RLC keeps developing. The midfield market is also good, so Chelsea might consider guys like Goretzka who are pretty versatile and have good workrate to balance out guys like Kova and Jorgnho. Chelsea's cb replacements will be the biggest thing to track, and then the macro situation with Abramovic and potential ownership change. Tbh if not of the Abramovic situation then I wouldn't have been surprised if Tuchel got sacked because the midfield playmaking with the same personnel was much better last year and Chelsea has fired Conte and Di Matteo on bad striker integrations in the past. My favorite Chelsea managers (Mou and Ancelotti) have been sacked for less. Even bigger than sidestepping managerial modus operandi, I wonder if this slows down a traditionally very fast and responsive Chelsea in terms of summer buys.

With the new CB setup the tactical question I have is who becomes the ballplayer/playmaker, as Rudiger and Christensen were key participants in that dimension.

Looking at clips of Gvardiol. This guy looks like an absolute monster.

Similar to how Tchouameni looked like an absurd talent last season and Marina overinflated her ego and assumed he would still be on the table a year later. But with our stagnation, or even decline and the ascension of the RM super team developing he's set his sights elsewhere.

Whatever.

You have to get Gvardiol this summer. Looks like an Ivanovic/Rudiger clone, at only 20 years and an absurd playmaker.

A defensive crop of Gvardiol/Colwill/Reece/Chilwell/Silva/Chalobah/Ampadu for next season is extremely strong and transitionary for the next phase of Chelsea football.

That's with the potential return of Livramento in 2023 who looks like another special RB talent.

I think letting Ziyech go is fine. Selling Lukaku is paramount.

I'm not even sure of attackers. It's really going to be another struggle bus year with this group. Werner is a cosplayer, but I still wouldn't mind keeping him around another season just to run around and accumulate miles via pressing.

The media never rests with Abramovich's name, sigh.

Anyways, the Boehly deal is done and is to be announced in the next 24-48 hours.
