How do you rank their Championship winning team in modern German history? Their team played some amazing stuff.
Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Toni Kroos, Pep Guardiola, Ernst Happel, Joachim Löw.

So, RB Leipzig had to change their logo becauce it had too much of the Red Bull logo in it. This is what they came up with:

This changes everything!
What a joke

When you play in Berlin you should win championships. It's, what, the 3rd or 4th best city in Europe(behind London, Paris, Rome)?
Yeah, we should've been and easily could've been a lot better in the past. Management was terrible most of the time (Dieter Hoeneß
In a city like Berlin you will always have tons of followers when you're successful. That year where we almost went on a championship run with Favre was epic, but it only took a bad start to the next season to destroy everything.
It looks like things are getting better, though. Let's hope Preetz keeps up his good work and doesn't screw it up this time.

Berlin is a football city but Hertha's not that well liked and teams like Union Berlin and even BFC Dynamo are drawing a lot of fans.
That's the negative of having a city that was divided for over 40 years, while two other clubs gained a lot of following in the east(Union, BFC) and with the suburbs/region not really caring for Hertha, given that they haven't been successfull(except for a couple of years during the Hoeneß era were they killed their financials) at all for a long time.
To add onto this post, some years ago a German newspaper (and a legit one at that not just a crappy tabloid one but I can't remember which one it was) published the results of a survey among Berlin residents. Turns out, Hertha was NOT the most popular club in the city. The most popular club was Werder Bremen (which also says a lot, if you ask me).
And I can speak from a personal experience, too, that Hertha is not THAT popular in Berlin. In 2007 when my favorite club (HANSA ROSTOCK!!!!) was still playing in the Bundesliga (oh those days...) I went to see them in Berlin on a Tuesday night match. The stadium wasn't even filled at half capacity (~30000 were there). While Hansa supporters were still fewer than Hertha supporters you couldn't even hear one bit from the Hertha ranks, even while being about twice as many as we were.
We won and that was one of my greatest fan experiences of all time. Even when I arrived at the subway station close to my apartment at time at the other side of the city, there were plenty of Hansa fans celebrating. Just goes to show you that there are tons of football fans in Berlin just not too many of them like Hertha (and deservedly so. I hate them too).

Stieber goes to Hamburg.
Knowing Hamburg, his talent will probably rot on the bench because they see more potential in Jacques Zoua or something.
I would say their Championship team still belongs into the dark era of German soccer post 2002.
Nobody other than Bayern Munich (sometimes) was even semi competitive on CL-level.
That said, it got better by the years. They are not comparable to Bayern 1999-2001 & Bayern/Dortmund in the last 4 years. Wolfsburgs team from 08/09 I see on level with Schalke, Leverkusen or even Wolfsburg current team.
Wolfsburg 08/09 & Stuttgart two years before just caught a fortunate moment in time where there was no CL semi final caliber team in the Bundesliga that could ve torpedoed their title run easily.

F*ck yeah. Mainz 05 II beats Neustrelitz 2:0 away from home. We better not screw this up on Sunday at home. 2nd team in 3rd league would be awesome to acquire young talents.

Di Marzio and Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Immobile is a Dortmund player for €19.5M. Signatures expected tomorrow.
Great signing if it's true. Ramos + Immobile as replacements for Lewa is very good.

Re: 2013-14 German Bundesliga Thread: Bayern Champs Again
Seems like Sammer's doing his behind the back deals again and this time with some youth players.
I'm talking about 17 year old Sinan Kurt of Gladbach, who's a very promising offensive player(already had some offer from PSG etc. last summer) and was offered a place on the first team of Gladbach but doesn't seems to be that interested anymore.
The funny thing about this is that Max Eberl talked to Sammer a couple of times because we're said to be interested in loaning Alessandro Schöpf and/or Pierre Emil Höjbjerg and Sammer never mentioned Bayern being interested in him even though he talked to the kid already.
What's even funnier is that Sammer, while working for the German FA, always talked about being fair in negotiations for youngsters and never doing deals behind the back with those young guys.

Dortmund seems to have addressed the issue of finding a replacement for Lewandowski by getting two stellar strikers: both of whom were at the top of their respective leagues in goals scored.

That would be so Sammer. Such a dick, unlike Lodar a loveable dick, but still a dick. Really hope that nothing comes of that as I was very excited to Sinan break into the first team. With Hrgota, Younes, Dahoud and the other holder who's name I'm forgetting, that would've been a really nice young core coming through behind the first teamers.

Well, Eberl just stated that we won't sell Kurt and that he'll also not be a part of the first team.
That's because Eberl and Favre had a conversation with Kurt and his agent just a couple weeks ago, explaining them how they want to integrate him to the first team, and with Kurt then talking to Bayern(behind Borussias back) just days after that.
Also, Younes will most likely be loaned for a season to Düsseldorf and I still don't know what to make of Hrgota, who looked really bad this past season.
Though, Dahoud will be part of the first team and hopefully he'll stay healthy to fight for playing time.

There is nothing likeable about Sammer, sorry.
A few year back he was a Dortmund die-hard, talking f*ck about Bayern. Now he is a Bayern die-hard talking f*ck about Dortmund. It is like it is, Sammer is just a money whore. Give him a big paycheck and he'll convert from Bayern to a Squash team manager in no time.
Also, Sammer is the one doing the pointless transfers of Rode or Kirchhoff. Players who have no business playing at Bayern Munich wasting on their bench. Or he is always talking about moral values and then talking to Kurt behind Gladbachs back. Hoeneß & Rummenigge are the ones who have done/do all the important transfers, not Sammer.
It is like it is, Sammer is a douche who is taking himself way to serious. I can't help but laugh at this guy. I reckon Klopps comment that Sammer should thank god every morning someone at Bayern was stupid enough to give him a contract.
His best comment was that the other Bundesliga teams don't train well enough a few weeks before Bayern got absolutely crushed by Real Madrid. So deserved that Real handed Bayerns asses simply for that arrogant comment alone.

Well, he seems to be at it again, as there are now again rumors that Bayern wants to buy Matthias Ginter of Freiburg, as they missed out on David Luiz.
That kid has no business transferring to that club but I guess they'll just buy him anyways, even if it's just so they can keep him away from other Bundesliga teams.
BTW: Another "funny" side not to the Sinan Kurt thing.
Rummenigge also made some comments and just cold blooded told reporters that Bayern wants a player from Gladbach and Gladbach one of Bayerns players and that both clubs should work from there.
Honestly?
We're talking about Schöpf, a guy who's solid but not close to the first team, while Kurt's one of the bigger talents in german football and already worth millions of euros.

Sammer's never been a diehard, he's a samurai, unstoppably loyal for whomever holds his honor at a given point.

Re: 2013-14 German Bundesliga Thread: Bayern Champs Again
Word is Dortmund want Ginter from Freiburg. Again they are refusing to pay market value of double digit millions, though.
It seems like Watzke & Zorc think they can starve out the local teams while paying big transfer sums for foreign players such as Aubameyang, Immobile & Mkhitaryan.

Eh, their offer is 10M, that's not exactly a massively low ball deal. a good 2-3 M under what someone that proven should get, but not as bad as you're carping on it would make it seem.
