Lets just say we disagree but at least it seems like he will stay in Schalke.

Now Bastos is the guy who seems out of the door. Well, he wasn't exactly stellar last season but they could certainly use him. Raffael went to Gladbach.
Max Meyer/Goretzka/Clemens are unproven on international (and even Bundesliga) level.

They could certainly use Bastos for CL games. At least as a sub.

Thing with Bastos is that they have to buy him next summer for 7 mil if they make the CL places again, and even though they need the depth this season, I think long term avoiding that forced payout would be a blessing in disguise. Although they definitely would need to go out and find another attacking player that can push for a starting spot, but fortunately finding those guys in the BuLi isn't that hard.

especially since Meyer appears to have won the job of primary backup 10 to Draxler, so he seems to be ascending even faster than expected. Between him, Draxler and Goertzka they have arguably the 3 best German teenagers either already in their squad, or close to breaking into the starting 11.

Agreed to disagree on Papa, cause he is a great prospect defensively, although he'll always be limited on the ball, but he just makes me worry a lot more than Howedes and even Matip with his aggressiveness.

Actually, I want to see Schalke bust out a 3 midfielder formation if Bastos isn't replaced. Let jones and Goretzka run around in front of Neustadter, with Kolasinac stepping for Jones or Roman, and Meyer or Szalai coming in for Goretzka. Draxler-Hunter-Farfan trio in front of that and Schalke could bring a possessing aspect to their play that they couldn't rely on once Holtby left last season.

I think ribery should have won the player of the year award, he was arguably the best player in the world this past season. Happy for Bastian tho, one of my favorite players. What are they going to do with the voting now? Is there going to be a recount?

How did Augsburg in the pre-season?

I was looking at the odds and over 2.5 is like 1.85 for Dortmund-Augsburg. I am sure Dortmund will score twice maybe more but do you think Augsburg might score a goal or two?

Augsburg is one of the weaker offensive teams in the league.
Friendly results against pro opponents were mixed. Lost 2-1 to Greuther Fürth, beat AS Monaco 1-0 and drew 0-0 against FC Malaga. Round 1 of the Cup was a 2-0 victory over a newly promoted 3rd league club.

I don't expect them to score against Dortmund. Then again it's first match of the season and Dortmund hasn't exactly looked stellar in their 3-0 Cup win against Wilhelmshaven.

If this was in the middle of the season I would easily do the over bet but I'm always reluctant about betting on first three match days.

Aubameyang scores a beauty for Dortmund and Sven Bender saves a goal off of the line.

Emre "guaranteed starting spot" Can is only on the bench for Leverkusen in a 1-1 draw with a rebuilt Freiburg.

Hannover take a 1-0 lead into the cabin with Wolfsburg young-star Max Arnold picking up a red.

Hertha leading Frankfurt 2-1, and Hoffenheim take a 1-0 into the break against Der Club.

All in all what looks like an exciting day of football, once Dortmund score their second I'm switching to Leverkusen or Hannover's games.

Augsburg are piling on the pressure.

Btw, can anyone give me some info on Peniel Mlapa? I'm destroying everyone on Fifa with him, but have no idea on how good he is in real life.

He's not. He's huge, strong, fast and actually doesn't have bad dribbling, but the man can't finish for his life and isn't technical enough to play in the attacking midfield. He is still young so maybe it all clicks for him some day and he becomes a clinical goal scorer who's one of the world best strikers, but I doubt it.

Damn, Reus and Auba are nasty, once Mkh gets back there won't be a team in the world as scary when they're flying at you on the run.

He is playing his 4th Bundesliga season now but in his first three he has never managed to become a starter.
I'm not a fan.

Frankfurt and Freiburg look terrible. I know why I wanted Gladbach and Hannover to make the EL over them. :dontknow:

Aubameyang with the hat trick on his debut. I wonder what he'll do when accompanied by Mkhitaryan.

Aubameyang really is an athletic freak. With Reus, Mkhitaryan, Gündogan, Sahin and Kuba setting him up instead of Hamouma, Corgnet, Brandao or Lemoine he could really make the next step.

BVB are going to be so ridiculously good when they can run with Reus, Lewa, Auba and Mkhitaryan. Just so much speed, skill and goal scoring talent as each of those guys could well break 15 goals in the league. With Ilkay and Hummels feeding them from deep they'll just be nasty. This is why I think the salad bowl will be a toss up this year, especially if BVB really do prioritize the BuLi over the CL this year.
