Sucks for the referee though. He basically will be going after the group stages and will probably never officiate at a major tournament again. Really, the officiating crews should all be from Europe.

It saddens me that Portugal have got something of a reputation for such **** antics. Sucks seeing a country hard done like that. And yet Fred will get less criticism/discipline for winning that penalty than Suarez did for his handball which stopped Ghana from scoring in the last WC. Yet, Suarez was actually completely punished for his offense.

We shouldn't focus only on the cop that made a mistake, but focus mainly on the criminal that caused his mistake

Bundesliga and Premier League refs are "not much better" than referees from the Gambian and Japanese leagues then?

As someone whose nation plays in the AFC, I agree not all confederations should be represented. But why only UEFA?

I agree. The world is filled with terrible referees, plus even the really good ones still make mistakes.

I'm happy that Refs from all over the world are used. After all, it is the World Cup.

And in a split of the second depending on his view, his angle, and the number of bodies between them it can be hard to no make mistakes.
