I don't think saying "jumping around like monkeys" is racist...it's descriptive. But I know not many will agree with this.

Jose is the most entertaining manager of all time. Turkish football is lucky to have him

It depends on who he said it to, if he said it to brownish Asian or black coaches it really is.

It carries connotations of the worst racist history of when you put black, aboriginal peoples in "human Zoo" in Europe because they look like animals anyway....

I dont think he meant to be racist or he is racist but he said "they were jumping like monkeys on the bench" and Galatasaray had two black players on the bench. Pretty much every black football player has been compared to monkeys in their career, so at the very least it was very insensitive.

If this happened in America, or even in England he would be fired next day imo.

Yeah even if the intention isn't to make a racist comment, you have to be careful of the players and coaches around you. Not only been called monkeys, how often have banana being thrown at players in La Liga, Seria A?
If he apologized sincerely, I'm not sure he should get fired for this.

Yeah I am a fan of giving people a chance to correct their mistakes, especially when it is unintentional. He hasnt apologized and it is not Mourinho's style but we'll see.

Fwiw he hasn't really contributed much to Fenerbahce on the field, they finished 24th in europa league and look much worse than last year domestically. Last week's Anderlecht win might be the only good match they've had all year. Game might have passed Mourinho at this point.

A betting scandal involving Mexico's third division teams and players have broken out.

There's a video of several players negotiating for payments to throw a game. Total amount of payoffs is about $11k for one game.

Players in the third division make a maximum of $1500-2000 a month -- apparently there's a cap.

My question is, who's betting on Mexican third division matches? Has to be a lot more than the $11k discussed for the one game?

Are Mexican football fans betting hundreds of thousands on these lower division matches?

Apparently, some European casinos notified Mexican football authorities of irregular betting patterns on those matches. So apparently some foreign fans are betting? But what kind of knowledge of clubs and players would one have of such low-level football?

Another issue is that promotion opportunities are apparently limited in Mexico for some reason. So some players have been in these 3rd division clubs for 10 years. One of the implicated players have been in that division from age 16 to 26 and probably susceptible to being bribed, given his limited salary.

In the offshore sportsbook I used to use there are offerings for Kenyan second division and Australian women's regional leagues. There are lot of degenerates out there betting these games and lot of syndicates profiting from them.

There would be alerts if there are large amount of bets in legal sportsbooks but they can still put money on offshore books.

US youth club soccer changing back to the school year model vs birth year is understandable..... Choosing September 1st over August 1st as the cutoff was just dumb and leaves a lot of kids trapped.
Why should you go to jail for a crime someone else noticed? You don't need double talk... You need Bob Loblaw.

I'm not sure if a single team he's managed has actually been any good, but we need him in EPL. So much potential content to be enjoyed

Interesting data, Real becomes worse in both offense and defense metrics while PSG’s metrics improve as Mbappe moved from PSG to Real.

Statistical analysis reveals Madrid's attack has declined from 1.88 adjusted goals per 90 minutes last season to just 1.69 in the current campaign despite adding Mbappé. Meanwhile, PSG's offensive output has surged from 1.94 to 2.56 adjusted goals per 90 minutes.

The defensive numbers tell a similar story. Madrid has regressed from 0.84 adjusted goals allowed per 90 minutes to 0.94, while PSG has improved from 1.02 to 0.86, demonstrating better defensive structure without Mbappé.

Heat maps illustrate a key tactical problem: Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior essentially occupy the same left-sided spaces, creating positional redundancy. Neither player, nor teammate Rodrygo, consistently occupies central attacking areas, limiting Madrid's offensive effectiveness.
