Re: A-League
Melbourne Heart member here - I'm really enjoying following a team in the A-League now, and I'm loving the way that they're playing.
Much more entertaining than that Victory garbage...

Melbourne Heart fan here.
The A-League is underrated in a sense, the quality isn't that bad considering the age of the league & there are some high quality players.
Some of the young guns are really good & it can only be good for our international future though it seems we may struggle to keep our best prospects away from the rest of Asia.
Brisbane are playing amazing still & I believe this is good for the future of the A-League as the other teams will have to raise their game to keep up.

Re: A-League
I think one of the best parts about the A-League is that its local players for the most part. Luke DeVere, who was on the Roar for most of last season (before going to the Korean K-League in mid season transfer window) was in my grade at high school and trained together occasionally and Matt Mackay, former Roar captain / Currently playing for Glasgow Rangers / Socceroos was from my school too, and coached me when I was in year 8. Its really awesome to see people you knew playing in the league, which makes it a lot more interesting to me than the EPL on a personal level (although I obviously still love watching the EPL
)

Adelaide United have named a 15 year old Libyan refugee in their squad for tomorrow night.

That prediction's gone down the toilet real quick...
Brisbane got to the record and then fell off a cliff. You have to think that their focus was waivering, and the pressure was building.
The only reason they held on was the record, and then when they got it, it was like letting go of a balloon - Their minds have just been all over the place. Central Coast are now even on points with a game in hand.

Re: A-League
Yeah I think once they got the record they lost a bit of motivation, tho I don't think Postecoglou will let them get away wityh it for much longer.

The Heart are absolutely rolling at the moment - A demolition of the Victory on Friday night should be all we need for a Merry Christmas:

Didn't think they'd actually do it. Would have given him another couple of months myself but most fans were screaming bloody murder.

Nice to see Melbourne averaging over 24,000 fans.
The league is really starting to take off in some cities.

Hyundai A-League Season 7 reaches 1 Million fans
http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/new ... fans/44889
It's good to see soccer finally catching on in Australia and New Zealand. 1 Million fans with 42 games to go is great!
Strong attendances in Wellington, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide for Week 17 matches carried the season aggregate to 1,029,882.
With almost 50,000 fans coming to the four matches played over the extended weekend, Season 7 has reached the 1 million mark a week earlier than the previous quickest season in 2007/08.
With 42 regular season matches still to be played, the Hyundai A-League could see yet another record set this season with the highest aggregate regular season crowds recorded.
The highest aggregate regular season total to date is 1,393,933 in 2010/11.
Head of Hyundai A-League Lyall Gorman says that from current figures and attendance trends the season aggregate crowd record will be eclipsed.
“This season has seen a strong spike in crowds of over 30% on our match average, thanks to some excellent football, great drama and the return of stars including Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton,” Gorman said.

Re: The Official Australian A-League Thread

Hopefully a new owner can be added that will actually care about the on field product. Sadly, all I see happening is the loss of another team.
