Argentina wins 1-0 when Neuer comes out too far and is finally forced to pay. Strategy has had him and Germany playing with fire too much and have gotten away with it against players not skilled enough to make them pay like Algeria and guys like Paulinho.

Germany should be favorites and are the better team but Argentina has seemed like a team of destiny. Could see something like a Messi free kick or Neuer again being asked to do too much to cover for that defense being the difference.

Germany gives the other team too many chances to score, with Messi and Higuain you cant do that.
Argentina will probably score at least once, the thing will be who scores first... if Argentina scores first then game is over because their defense is playing great, but if Germany scores first then they can do like against Brazil.

Idk who wins this game but lol@doubting Neur. He will not be the reason they lose if they lose.

Hopefully this is a classic. Given the last few finals though, that's unlikely

As an English fan this couldn't have gone much worse.

Wasn't doubting him. He's been amazing and absolutely the reason for lots of Germany's clean sheets. I'm not saying he'd be the reason they lose. I'm doubting Low's strategy that has him constantly cleaning up for the slow German CB's who keep pushing up so high. I'm just saying he's bailed them out a ton and could see Low's strategy finally coming back to bite him if he asks him to do it too much and thi time against players like the skilled Argentine offensive players like Messi, Higuain and Aguero.

In all second round, only Mexico scored the first goal and then ended up being eliminated. Good defenses are overtaking good offense, and Argentina defense > Germany defense.

I'll take Germany 3-2 although I'm good with either one. Just glad The Netherlands are out. To not have to see Robben's flopping ass or to have to hear his name called 200 times per match.

This game will be huge for Messi's legacy.

He already won everything at club level, so if he wins on the big stage with Argentina too that gets him up into the GOAT candidate talk, specially considering Di Maria is out and Aguero is hurt.

*sigh* if he wins that cements him as one of the top 3 argentinians of all time alongside Maradona and di Stefano, but it doesn't move him past Pele, Cruyff, Netzer, Platini, Beckenbauer, Gerd, Phenomeno, van Basten, Zizou, phenomeno, garrincha, romaria, etc.

He certainly wouldn't be my GOAT, I've got Pele and Maradona in the 1st tier, who are and will be ahead of a group of several players for now.

But Messi would have to be included in the discusion w/ a world cup title :
4 time Ballon d'Or, 3 champions league titles, 6 La Liga titles, an olympic title, 354 goals for Barcelona, 42 goals for Argentina, world record for most goals scored in a year, most goals scored in the CL knockout phases, top scorer in La Liga history...

That's already a very impressive resume, and he's still got quite a few good years ahead left. Would still prolly needa add on a Copa America as well to make his international career more legit

In what world would Romario or Netzer be above Messi with a WC?

I think you're just backing older players because they're older.
