Have Villa fans written a song for Duran set to the Beach Boys' Barbara Ann yet?
It's time for 5 refs.

Duran is so special. Pains me every time I get to see him play knowing we had him in our palms.

Ramsey and Onana took knocks this game against Bayern, I think their league form will hinder for as long as they're in both competitions. They ran their socks off like it was a final.

S/O to Emery though. Gerrard tried to warp people’s minds about the quality of his players (re: Pochettino).

A proper manager will change your life.

Interesting, so no groups this year.

Are they still playing home and home?

Do away goals matter in the league phase?

Very impressive for Villa, Lille and I would think for Leverkusen to beat Milan but Leverkusen has 2 wins and Milan has two losses.

Also, I would have thought Atleti would be stronger than Beneficia, which beat Atleti 4-0 today.

No but I'm sure goals for , goals against , and GD will be tie breakers after the 8 games

Every team plays two different opponents from each Pot. One game will be home and one away. There are 4 Pots so everyone gets 8 different games. So Bayern was one of Villa's POT 1 games , now they have an away game against a different Pot 1 team.

100% mate...what a game and what A RESULT.

A lot of fans were wanting the club to sell Duran...thankfully Monchi and Emery held firm on him. He's worth 3 times what was offered now. 6 Goals in 290 minutes played

First Bayern loss in the group stages in 7 years...last defeat was to PSG with Lord Emery as their manager!!!

Villa Park was jumping, wish I could be there.

Jaden Philogene had his best game in a Villa kit, only second game starting. His defensive work was outstanding.

Diego Carlos had a shocker vs Ipswich, but totally redeemed himself in this game. He won't start the majority of games, but this game suited him.

Lots to work through, as Ramsey, Bailey and Onana are all now nursing minor injuries.

Kamara and Mings are both due back this month sometime, if all goes to plan.

Hopefully we can back it up against Manu on the weekend

Leao gets into the most dangerous of places only to not get many goals or assists. Damn shame for a player of his skill level.
meanwhile Pulisic scored straight from a corner kick..his goal/assist streak continues.

The 2nd goal from Vini was incredible. The goal to complete the hat trick, though, wow. He's unreal.

Feels like he secured the Ballon d'Or tonight. What a display, he tortured Dortmund's right side.

3 from 3, with all clean sheets for Villa.

2 years ago this week we sacked Steven Gerrard. Can't imagine thinking even in the best of circumstances, that we could be sitting atop the Champions league table in a short 2 years after. King Emery has done a magical job.

If I was told we'd have Watkins, Mings, Kamara, Ramsey, Digne, Cash, Buendia etc on the bench for a Champions League game in 2024, I would have laughed my ass off

rubbish from Juve yesterday, but it is only the first loss of the season. Still, with no backup to Vlahovic and Bremer done for the season, we look like an incomplete squad.

I'm not trying to downplay what you've said, because you're correct. Villa has come a long way in a few years. And I am happy for such a shakeup.

I will simply add, outside of Bayern Munich, who are not the defending Bundesliga champions, wins over Young Boys and Bologna were expected, at least I hope Villa fans thought as much.

Agreed, we have lots of reasons to cheer. Amazing to be top of the champions league and top 4 in the prem. still a long way to go but we are getting better by the week.

To be honest during preseason a lot of fans from other teams had us struggling in both the prem and champions league. So we are already defying expectations. A lot of fans said we’ll be like Newcastle in the champions league and we look like we’ll qualify for the next stage soon.

We can only beat what teams are in front of us, Bayern were overwhelming favourites for our game, Bologna can be a tricky fixture and Young Boys we were likely favourites.

Liverpool and Villa are the two best teams in Europe, naturally.
