Re: 2011-12 La Liga: Real (79pts, +73) vs Barca (75pts, +67)

One way or another, come April 21, the fans of one of these two teams will be insufferable. Pretty much how it always goes in Spain.

You're right Vic, as despicable as Mourinho tends to act sometimes, he certainly has gotten the best performance out of these players. A lot of fans have stated that it is uncharacteristic of Real Madrid but the guy knows how to make a team competitive. 4 points should be enough but you never know, our defense is suspect and we could slip up in one of our few remaining la liga games. However, I don't see Pepe as the liability unless he does something really stupid. Defensively, he's a solid player. The rest of the defence tends to slack off, or make poor decisions (Ramos and his recklessness, Carvalho's age slowing him down, Arbeloa and Albiol not putting pressure on the ball, and Coentrao with his occasional lapses). For a guy with pockets as deep as his, even with Madrid's attack philosophy, I don't understand why he doesn't invest in better defenders.

Gotta give Real the respect... they earned this win for sure, fantastic game all around from them.

Would be a tough week for Barca if they can't beat Chelsea on Tuesday.

Madrid played defensively today but they weren't playing for a draw. Glad we came out with a good result off the counter attack, it seems this formation of Guardiola's has been figured out. :P Glad Barcelona showed composure by not sinking to the level we usually see from Pepe and Marcelo when their team is losing in the dying moments of the game.

I gotta give a lot of credit to Real. They played amazing. They didn't allow Barca's midfield any space and they were very strong attacking the ball.

Only have Champs League left, hopefully they recover at the Nou Camp this week.

What a match. It was always going to be a crazy week for either Real or Barca. With the La Liga basically wrapped up Barca will have to come out and execute on Wednesday to salvage their season.

Why isn't Pep playing Pique? I don't think he's injured. May be its La Masia policy to keep the average height of the squad below 5'9"

LOL! I don't know. Looked like Pique was going to come on yesterday but Pep changed his mind after Ronaldo scored.

Seeing as how he's one of 2 players in that Barca side that can win a header I don't think Pep has much options against Real, who have Ronaldo, Pepe and Ramos who are all excellent from set pieces.

I still don't understand why Mascherano gets played in defense but well.. he won 2 champions league medals with that team.

^^Speaking of hearders, Spain press is suggesting that Barcelona needs a player like Falcao. I say the chances of Barcelona getting him are slim. I doubt they'd want to spend the money it would cost to get him.

I think they would've been well advised to keep Ibrahimovic. He didn't have a great first year in his second year he would've been much better. He was such a brutal striker at the time. Messi and Sanchez lack the physical presence to win headers. If they still had Ibrahimovic up front their offense would be even more unstoppable.

They'll be fine once they get Villa back. Van Persie is also out of contract soon so he'll be a great buy for them.

If they want to buy another Spanish international they could as well get Llorente.

Looks like Guardiola will leave Barca after an incredible four year run.

Bielsa would be a perfect replacement.

Tito Vilanova the co-trainer will be the new coach. A bit of a surprise. :o

LOL A Madrid dominated the game and was up 1-0 and then Bettis scored twice in like 5 minutes. Falcao came through in the last play of the game to rescue a point for Madrid. They should have won though

Wow. Vallecano's defense should rename themselves in Swiss Cheese.

Yeah Vallecano has actually been a decent team this year, but man were they horrible against Barcelona. Guess Barcelona took their anger out on them lol
