this is a loss in reality for the US, they were supposed to win the game!

Now they have to hope that Wales doesn't win against Iran, or they at least get a point from England, because if they lose, and Wales win, I am pretty sure England and Wales will draw in the last game to guarantee the 1-2. This happened before between "sister" nations

US is to blame totally for this draw. This game was in hand but they were happy to take it easy instead of going for another goal. Also they stop giving the ball to Weah, probably dont want him to score another goal

USA deserved to lose that game for how lethargic and complacent they played in the 2nd half. And the rash of 'injuries' with 20+ minutes to go were disgraceful (though, to be fair, the Welsh did the same garbage as soon as they had the chance to milk time for the draw).

By the end I was just about rooting for Wales to put in their 2nd as a lesson to the Americans on the consequences of playing stupid.

I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom yet to the Americans here posting, there’s a lot of football to be played. The group is still pretty open (mainly for who comes 2nd), as well as England played today, they are capable of having a hiccup. Also Wales could struggle in their game against Iran. England vs Wales could be quite competitive because of the proximity of the nations, obviously dependent on how the group plays out of course.

US ended up lucky to get the draw. They spent all their energy pressing in the 1st half, which was good and why they dominated and led going into the half.

But then Wales brought in Moore, who changed the game. US was tired and cramping not even halfway through the second half. Another good sub bringing in Johnson for Wales, who made that quick throw that ended up leading to the penalty.

Such a dumb challenge by Zimmerman, fouling a guy in the box whose back is to the goal. SMDH. I think Wales would have gotten an equalizer anyway, though.

Pulisic with the great play on the US goal, but aside from that really did not play that well. Some really poor corners and set pieces. I also thought Aaronson would bring some spark, I love the kid, but nope, not really. Gave it up a lot.

Edit: Oh, and Jordan Morris was bad. Trying to cross it on the ground directly through a defender, or something? Lol. Cmon.

For the stupidest reasons only... Qatar sucks and would have never been in this WC if not for the host rights. Predicting they will finish 2d when they will struggle to score a single goal is utter stupidity.

Maybe i should just stick to the player comparison board lol

not making a sub in the first 15 minuites of the second half was a madness. And putting in yedlin was pretty bizarre

The US team aint bad man , just missing a little firepower. Sargent worked his socks off but he's just not a threat at all man lol. Need to develop a striker with loads of goals in him. I know Balogun at Arsenal has a choice to make between USA , Nigeria , and England(if he waits to be possibly good enough) that would be a nice get for the USMNT

Kinda makes sense. Beer is banned, very conservative country that doesn't really incentivize tourists, all the human rights stuff, etc

I don't like it either. Feels weird and changes the whole game.

A tie was the deserved result of this game. Bummer as a US fan, since they played just great in the first half, but so it goes. It's too bad they don't get to play Iran next, but again, so it goes.

That said, even if the result on Friday is a US loss by say a goal or two (let's say 2) and a Wales win by 2 goals, all is not lost. I really don't think England will be playing for a tie against Wales. For one, if they do and they lost they would be 2nd in the group. Two, I don't think they are exactly on friendly terms and do have a rivalry. Three, I've seen this before in 2002, where the US lost to Poland and Portugal was playing for a tie, only to get beat by South Korea. That's the only one I remember too, and I'm sure it's happened many times before and since.

On the other hand, if the US has a two goal differential to make up, I'm not sure they can do it.

I'm legit stunned Sargent not only made the team but was a **** starter. I thought there was actually a reason he fell out of favor in qualifying...because it was deserved.

That foul saved the US. Turner was way out of position and Bale was ready to fire.

Man, Gio Reyna said he's 100 pct healthy and he couldn't even get off the bench as a sub. I've never been a huge coach critic but that's gross negligence on Berhalter's part.

If you’re American, I guess. The teams were evenly matched which is reflected in the rankings. The big difference is Iran (one way) and England (the other).
