Re: Official Team USA
The DFB has opened investigation on Jermaine Jones (Schalke) for deliberately stepping on the injured foot of Gladbach star Marco Reus. He apparently tried to re-break the freshly healed toe of Reus.

most of those guys aren't even worth watching. Minus the obvious I'd watch Bunbury, Hamid, Johnson and Sapong

It's more or less typical to give guys lower on the depth chart a look in the January camps. Most of the usual suspects who play in Europe/Mexico are in full swing with their clubs, so it's a good time to give the top MLS guys/younger players some looks. I'm a Revs fan, so I'm most interested to see if Benny can work his way back into the MNT equation, Klinsy doesn't seem fond of him at all. I'm also excited to see Sapong and Bunbury, didn't get to watch them play as much as I would have liked to last season.
Also, left back is probably the most pressing need to find an established starts for the nats right now. It seems like the only guy with much LB experience called in is Heath Pearce, so I guess we'll see what Klinnsman tries there in the friendlies. Chandler seems to be the long-term solution at RB, but for now he probably slots in at the starter for LB when the team is at full strength.

PANDEMONEUM wrote:for the 2014 FIFA World Cup
our first game is the
Semifinal Round (June 8 – Oct. 16, 2012)
-Group A-
USA
Jamaica
Winner E (Second Round) - Grenada - Guatemala - St. Vincent and the Grenadines - Belize
Winner F (Second Round) - Haiti - Antigua and Barbuda - Curaçao - U.S. Virgin Islands
we "should" be able to win our group and advance
we have 8 months to figure out our roster and formation(s)
*
Final Round (Feb. 6 – Oct. 15, 2013)
•Three group winners and runners-up from Semifinal Round comprise a group of six teams.
•The top three teams qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the fourth placed team advancing to the intercontinental playoff against a team from Oceania.
my guess
USA, Mexico
then the 3rd team (and 4th) between Honduras, Jamaica, Costa Rica
unless theres a surprise by Cuba, Canada, Panama or a super surprise team
June 8th
8 months away
and we dont have a set starting lineup or formation
im starting to get worried

Re: Official Team USA
did anyone catch the venezuela game? i only was able to see the highlights since it wasnt on TV for me and espn3 is a no go for twc in charlotte.
i read that jones looked good, but who else stood out? hamid? cameron? did bunbury do anything to deserve more immediate playing time?

United States (4-2-3-1):
Hamid
Pearce, Parkhurst, Cameron, DeLaGarza
Larentowitz, Jones
Shea, Zusi, Feilhaber
Bunbury
USA dominated the game
in the first half, venezuela didnt pressure our D when we had possession
so we got into a nice rhythm of working the ball across the D and wide
into and out of our Defensive Midfields
Benny Feilhaber had the role of facilitator, making very nice passes to Brek Shea and Teal Bunbury
Zusi. he seemed to be involved alot, and all his touches seemed to create a positive, either in attacking or possession
in the 2nd half
Chris Wondolowski and CJ Sapong were subbed in and the US had 3 forwards for the last 15 plus minutes and we had lots of chances
i dont know either of them, but they played really hard, and created positive scoring chances for us
DeLaGarza. the only guy that did NOT look good. he held the ball too much and did not make fast decisions.
everyone looked very organized and confident in their roles and how to work well together

Re: Official Team USA
Jones had the ball alot, and made good decisions
he was our player of the game
for Venezuela, their keeper was their best player
he had some very nice saves
and made all the routine keeper saves
Ven. did get a little physical during the game
and HELD, ALOT, during free kicks and corners
1 thing i want Team USA to do is play through it
dont whine or complain
but know that the other team is doing that
and respond appropriately
with Hard Challenges,
going for every 50/50 ball Hard,
and the appropriate professional foul without getting a card

thanks for the recap.
regarding delagarza, i read the same thing about him having a poor game. i guess, lucky for us we are deep at right back with dolo, lichaj, chandler and even spector. we won't need contributions from the c-squad right backs for a long time i hope.

Re: Official Team USA
we started the last game in a 4-2-3-1
then ended with a 4-3-3 (which really looked like a 4-1-2-3)
possession was a huge advantage in our game vs venezuela
i hope that we can repeat that, vs panama
id like to see the same 4-2-3-1
or a 4-1-3-2
hamid
cameron, loyd, parke, parkhurst (just NOT delagarza)
jones
shea, feilhaber, zusi
sapong, wondolowski
