Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Group D (UKR/SWE/FRA/ENG)
The main reason why instant replay is not implemented is to that UEFA/FIFA can keep fixing matches. They clearly want England to go through. They can have refs influence the game like crazy. You have 1-2 huge plays per game and you **** it up.
The fix is in.

England was robbed a goal two years, and since then the FA has been very supportive of the goal line technology. It's FIFA and Blatter who keep ignoring everyone.
Besides, if they really wanted England to go through, they could have just called the offside in the buildup. These extra officials have a very hard job to do to add

If FIFA/UEFA has been fixing games for England, they've been doing a sh*t job
I'm not watching the game, just have commentary, but was the offside in the build-up legit?

Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Group D (UKR/SWE/FRA/ENG)
I don't mean they want England to win everything. They would much rather England go through than Ukraine though. I just didn't think they would go as far as to not count a clear goal that went over the line.
And yes I realize that England got screwed against Germany on pretty much the same play a couple of years ago. Just bring in instant replay into the game though. Fixes everything. It would make games longer but you really only need it on huge plays. To decide if a goal was off sides or not, if it crossed the line and to review all penalties awarded (or not).
But they won't do it because it makes it tougher for them to control stuff.

smh, England gets the benefit of the goal line once again. Their only WC win is a sham and now they advance even though they shouldn't. don't bring up 2 years ago, Germany was going to win no matter what.

^Once again? It's only happened twice
By the way, lol at that person calling this a fix. This wasn't a fix, this is just ineptitude by the refs. Yes, we did not deserve to win tonight, in fact I think we shouldn't be going through. But to call it a fix is laughable.
Ever since they've introduced those officials behind the goal, they've done nothing to improve the officiating, they need to bring in goal line tech and get it over with. I think it's official that the extra officials experiment has failed.
Fair play to Sweden as well

Now they advance even though they shouldn't?
They would have advanced even if they lost 2-1. They were going to advance "no matter what"

Yesterday Croatia got robbed, today Ukraine.
What else has to happen that they finally introduce video replay on crucial scenes?

The goal that wasn't.

The offsides that wasn't.

I have yet to see footage of the game, but if a Ukrainian was offside in the build-up (which that pic seems to indicate pretty clearly), what's the big whoop?

don't understand this. how often possessions like that happen? once every 10 games? there are much easier ways to effect the score other than hoping for a miniscule chance of having a goal line save.
that being said those line refs are imbeciles and a half.

England deserved to go through, they played a pretty compact scheme and stuck to their limitations in all the games. Ukraine might feel a bit hard done and I'd have actually liked it if they made it in ahead of France.

Offsides are missed every other game, but a clear cut goal over the line is just blatant... especially considering they implemented an extra ref to stop this bs.

Doesn't matter if it's blatant or not. The goal shouldn't have counted anyway. Whether or not I think the goal line ref made a huge mistake is another story but if you argue that the goal should have counted because the ball was clearly over the line, you can also argue that this attack should have been waved off to begin with.
I guess I'm one of the very few who doesn't like a technical/laser/radio controlled goal line sensor. While I don't like to see what happened in 2010 (England vs. Germany) or the other day, the fact that Soccer is still completely decided by human precision, is one of the reason I like so much. Even though on a national, league level I was hosed several times being a fan of a club the referees more than once disrespected (on purpose or not) I still appreciate the fact that there's no technical support to the refs. Save for radio communication between the referee and his assistant(s), obviously.
