Hey,

though it's not official yet my soon-to-be girlfriend lives in Hamburg so unless I have to work we could have a beer or two.

Nice. Can't wait to see Stahl's goal from Koblenz against Hertha. He supposedly scored from 60 meters.

Bayern beats Freiburg 4-2. I don't know what was more surpising, Bayern actually scoring or Papiss Cisse not scoring. :D

Haha, FCK still can win, they drub Gladbach 3-0. Cologne gets a huge win vs Hamburg, Frankfurt continues to impress vs St. Pauli, Nuremberg shocks Bremen, and Schalke gets into deeper s*** vs Leverkusen.

Tomorrow Mainz - Leverkusen and Hoffenheim - Hannover, two top matches - who would have thought that??

Winner of the day:

Bayern Munich (just made up 3 pts. on almost anyone that was in front of them)
Cologne (not last anymore)
And the winners of Mainz/Dortmund and Hoffenheim/Hannover.

Table after 10 days:

Code: Select all

1    Borussia Dortmund     10         8    1    1         23:7    16         25

2    1. FSV Mainz 05        10         8    0    2         19:10    9         24

3    1899 Hoffenheim        10         5    3    2         21:13    8         18

5    Eintracht Frankfurt     10         5    1    4         17:10    7         16

6    Hannover 96        10         5    1    4         13:16    -3         16

7    Bayern München (M, P)10         4    3    3         12:10    2         15

8    Hamburger SV        10         4    3    3         15:14    1         15

9    1. FC Nürnberg        10         4    3    3         14:14    0         15

10    SC Freiburg                10         5    0    5         16:18    -2         15

11    Werder Bremen        10         4    2    4         19:21    -2         14

12    VfL Wolfsburg        10         4    1    5         17:16    1         13

13    FC St. Pauli (N)        10         4    1    5         12:15    -3         13

14    1. FC Kaiserslautern (N)10         3    1    6         13:18    -5         10

15    1. FC Köln            10         2    2    6         12:19    -7         8

16    VfB Stuttgart        10         2    1    7         16:19    -3         7

17    FC Schalke 04        10         1    3    6         10:17    -7         6

18    Borussia M'gladbach     10         1    3    6         14:30    -16         6

Everything is still incredible close. One win can get you from 10 to 3. Both the relegation and the championship will be very interesting, there aren't really any favorites for either spots right now. You'll probably need 40 points to avoid relegation this year, last season 33 or so were enough to stay in the league. Except Gladbach, there isn't any cannon fodder and everybody can beat everyone.

Good season so far.

My prediction for the rest of the season (laugh away, it's a total crapshot):

Code: Select all

1. Dortmund
2. Bayern
3. Leverkusen
4. Mainz
5. Hoffenheim
6. Bremen
7. Frankfurt
8. Hamburg
9. Schalke
10. Wolfburg
11. Stuttgart
12. Nürnberg
13. Freiburg (at. least I hope so. Dutt said if we finish 13th, we'll celebrate it like a championship!)
14. Hannover
15. K'Lautern
16. Köln (Win relegation match, stay in the league)
17. St.Pauli
18. Gladbach (Depends on how long they stick to Frontzeck. If they fire him soon and get some ok replacement, I could see them making a comeback. If not... goodbye)

It's amazing (in a bad way of course) that Schalke still only has one win so far. Stuttgart, too.

Schalke has bought a lot of new players. They'll probably go on a run in the 2nd leg but they might be too far away to reach the Europa League by that time. :dontknow:

Stuttgart is a poorly constructed team without a clear plan of how they want to play.
They sell Mario Gomez and their replacement is Pavel Pogrebnyak. Yikes.
I can understand that they've no success.
They buy players who are over the hill (Camoranesi) or are 3rd (or 4th 8-) ) tier players (Molinaro, Audel, Bah, Harnik and Degen). They brought in a whole lot of players but none of them is really starter material. It doesn't surprise me much that they've no success. Two quality players would have done wonders for them. They would be a much better team if they had invested in quality rather than quantity.

It'll be interesting to see how their next summer will pan out.

Maybe I should watch more Stuttgart games. They are one of the few teams that I really couldn't care less about. Kinda like Köln or Duisburg. There are teams that I dislike (not so many left due to Bayern getting more and more sympathetic) and teams that I like and I usually follow them to a certain degree. Stuttgart, however is a kinda blank and boring team to me.

God I hate Schalke and Werder. They're f***ing it up in the Champions League again.

Both will not advance to the round of 16 which means it's up to Bayern Munich again to be the only German team that can win anything in the CL.

That's not really surprising though. Every time one of our teams survives the group stages it feels like they overachieved. Ever since Dortmund had to start over again 10 years ago we've never had a legit 2nd team going deep into the tournament. Maybe Leverkusen, too, back when they couldn't win a Final if their lives depended on it.

After seeing Demichelis and Van Buyten today, I am seriously considering driving down to Uli Hoeneß and applying for a contract as a Bayern Munich defender. I cannot be *SO* much worse than them.

Not to mention that I am much cheaper :D

Ahaha. Bremen loses 6-0 against Stuttgart who have been on a relegation spot before that game.

This year has been quite surprising. Too bad that Mainz seems to have lost their momentum. Checking the standings I was a bit surprised Leverkusen is at 3rd place. They've been going way under my radar this season.

Leverkusen needs to collect points now because everyone knows they're going to suck a lot in the 2nd leg.

You gotta give Bayern Munich credit for always finding new ways to make money. On the occasion of their 111th. birthday next year they'll publish a limited edition book about the club (4111 exemplars) for 3.000 € each. It weighs 30 kilos which is more than 65 pounds.
