I think that the Dutch are still vulnerable to opposing pressure. Mathijssen is by far the best back, and he is "just" above average in the Bundesliga. Ooijer and Van Bronckhorst are past their primes, Bouhlarouz an eternal benchwarmer and De Jong wildly inconsistent. Remember, when they played Austria in preperation, they let in 3 goals in 30 minutes!

But honestly, who is going to put on so much pressure? Maybe Portugal? Croatia? Spain? I dunno. For me, NED is the fav now.

Holland is insanely impressive. They are scoring just about every chance they got....now if Italy could do that, they'd have won just as easily today.

f*** the refs, Toni's goal right before the half would have been huge. :banghead:

great PK call too........:nonono:

don't be surprised if the dutch fail to reach the semis. you read it here first! but it all depends on whom they face. if they face Sweden or Russia (which is very likely) I can see them advancing b/c the dutch strikers/midfielders will have a field day vs the older swedish defense. and Russia seems really inexperienced to me (no surprise though).

if spain beats sweden tomorrow, Dutch are lock for semis. if not we could see a Spain-Holland game with a final score of 6-6.

I have been a fan of the orange since the big three days when I could barely walk, but they always manage to look impressive and the lose. Remember 2000 Euro at home? Hopefully they put it together this time.
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

I'd be surprised if Portugal do not make the final.

Italy's going home tuesday, book it magik-homer 8)
(of course I wouldn't mind France going home too)

Holland deserves to win the tourney for the string of bad luck they've had over the years, but I fear they've started too hot again and will cool down very fast in the next round.

Holland could get Russia....which is great news because they're lead footed in the back and Spain abused them so you'd expect Holland to take advanatge too!

Again, top spot is decided in favour of the Netherlands, and second-placed Romania will join the Dutch in the quarter-finals by winning their encounter in Berne. If Romania draw or lose then that would allow either France or Italy to go through by winning their match in Zurich – the only way Les Bleus can progress. If Romania lose and the others play out a score draw, Italy would go through in a three-way head-to-head tie on two points as they would have scored more goals in the games involving France and Romania.

If Romania fall by one goal, two goals or by a three-goal margin other than 3-0 and the other match finishes 0-0, Romania would advance as their head-to-head record with Italy would be dead level but they would have a superior overall goal difference (or in the case of the three-goal defeats, goals scored). If Romania lose by four goals or more and the other game ends 0-0, Italy would proceed with a better overall goal difference than Romania. If Romania lose 3-0 and the other match finishes 0-0, Italy and Romania would have to be split on qualifying coefficients, in which case Italy would prevail 2.364-2.250.

what happens if Romania pulls a draw (say 1-1) and either Italy or France wins 1-0?
Should not Romania advance?

Standings

C NED - 6 | ROU - 2 | ITA - 1 | FRA - 1

If Romania draws, they will have 3 points. If Italy or France wins they are rewarded with 3 points, which would give them 4, and the standings would look like this:

C NED - 6 | ITA/FRA - 4 | ROU - 3

of course, I forget that both France & Italy already have point... :ouch:

May the best qualify!

you got lucky refs are terrible, or else Italy will be as good as in the next round.

I hate having to rely on another team even if they win :noway:
