Looks like my Muslim countries are finally picking up some steam after the Qatar and Iran disappointment.

Inshallah, I hope they continue to get success and get some games in the knockout stages. It's always fun to see the hometown underdogs perform.

Yes, I know technically Qatar is the only home team lol. But I still consider this home field for the Middle East and Arab countries.

Worst thing about soccer is the favoritism refs show for the higher ranked team. More flopping allowed and whistles in their favored etc.

Tis' why I always take pleasure in these high ranked teams losing.

I'm always rooting for the underdog.

Could be shades of 2002 here for France. Their previous World Cup defence began with an infamous 0-1 defeat against Senegal, and they finished bottom of their group that year.

But that's premature to mention, still plenty of football to be played here.
