I thought it was really cool that the top team, Bayern Munich, wasn't even a title contender for years.

Well they are always title contenders but some years they come up short.

When I got into the Bundesliga, they were barely top 4. It was Schalke, Stuttgart, and Werder Bremen that were worth watching.

That was a very short anomaly, in 12 years I've been a Bundesliga fan Bayern have been by far the most prolific club even with that span of a couple of years after Ballack left.

Guys, anyone who follows Dortmund, is NUri Sahin likely to make a move anytime soon? He looks pretty awesome.

He is pretty awesome. Perhaps the best player of the season so far.
Dortmund has announced that they intend to do whatever it takes to lock their young talent up longterm, but that doesn't mean much, as we all know. Anyway, he's under contract till 2013 and he won't be cheap.

Will he be available for around 20 - 25 mil euros? I reckon that's what we paid for Anderson from Porto but this guy seems more advanced in reputation than Ando was at that time.

With our older generation about to retire this season he would be someone United might look to this summer. I'm surprised he isn't attracting much interest in the gossip columns though.

I would say you've gotta spend 30 mil. right now. They're so far ahead of most relavant teams in the Bundesliga that it's almost a given that they will reach the Champions League. That means they're getting a lot of money anyway.
So unless you totally blow them out of their socks they're not going to sell their best player. I'm not quite sure about their financial situation. They've been in trouble a few years back but I think they've restored their financial situation so far that they don't have to sell their core players unless it's an offer they can't resist. Sahin, Götze, Subotic, Hummels, Barrios and maybe Kagawa are guys they will want to keep at all cost.

Awesome DFB-Pokal matches yesterday evening in FREEZING Germany. Stuttgart long resists Munich, coming back from 0-2 and 2-3 to 3-3, but loses 3-6 after two VfB players are sent off. Wolfsburg gets humiliated at home by 2nd division Cottbus  2nd division Aachen edges Frankfurt after penalties, and 2nd division Duisburg beats Cologne on the road

Upcoming round:
Schalke 04 - Offenbach/Nürnberg*
Energie Cottbus - 1899 Hoffenheim
Alemannia Aachen - Bayern München
MSV Duisburg - Koblenz/Lautern*

Note that Offenbach and Koblenz (both 3rd division clubs) will play at home if they win their matches. As a Lautern fan, I hope that Koblenz does not succeed. :D

BTW, Lira Bajramaj -the German woman's international who drew the upcoming matches- is hot. I can even tolerate her supporting such a crappy team like Gladbach :P

Martin Demichelis is off to Malaga.

Now Munich just needs to get rid of van Buyten and add a serviceable centre back.

Why is the Bundesliga the hardest league to win on FIFA? I've won the treble in England, Spain, and France, but I've been fired by Koln, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, Bayern, Werder Bremen, and Leverkusen.

Oh yeah, they're great if you want to go from one train station to another one and don't have any time restrictions, or don't mind running into some rancid hobos...at least gas is cheap here and my little civic doesn't need much of it...Still would be sweet to have a well developed train system like Berlin because the Chicago train system, while probably really good by US standards, is just such a pain in the ass to use and means getting rides to and from train stations because the buses suck and there's no U-bahn or more local alternatives to get you from the train stations unless you live right by one of the major train paths. One of my friends who lives a 20-25 drive away from me needs to take well over 2 hours by train and that's with him almost having a heart attack each time as he races through the streets of chicago and through Union station on his bike just to catch a train to make sure he doesn't have to sit there for an extra 45 minutes to an hour.

Because we have the most depth out of all leagues?

I'm only just beginning to catch up on Bundesliga games this season because I finally have some more spare time...
Someone fill me in on what the problem is for Wolfsburg, my boy Diego hasn't been helping?

They lost the heart and soul of their game. Misimovic essentially created their whole offensive game. That and their defense is suspect. Buying Kjaer hasn't helped much. So far he sucks.
Diego has scored some goals and made some assists but his impact is nowhere close to what Misimovic has done for them the past 2 seasons. That was kind of a downgrade for Wolfsburg.
Misimovic essentially is the better player for Wolfsburgs system.
Dzeko is left hanging because he doesn't get as much good passes as he used to get with Misimovic and the rest of their team is kinda average.
