Well according to WireTap, RVP and Falcao are both on their way out of town, amongst others.

Not sure as to what strikers we'd be looking at. All I've heard transfer-wise was that we were looking at adding a defensive mid and a centre-back, while hoping De Gea stays as well, of course.

I think the writing is on the wall when it comes to De Gea unfortunately. Great goaltender but sounds like he wants to head back to Spain. Rumoured replacements - Lloris, Cech, Casillas, or Valdes. I'd be happy with any of these choices but see Lloris as a long shot.

Hummels denied a transfer and it looks like they're setting their sights on Nicolas Otamendi for centre-back. I've never seen him play before but hopefully he can help out with the back end, which has been pretty bad the past few seasons.

Rumours for midfield I've heard Strootman, Pogba, Gundogan, Schweinsteiger, and Khedira. Vidal would've been another name to add but it looks like he could be on his way to Arsenal.

They could be going after Clyne from Southampton to fill right back.

I've also read that Di Maria is on the outs as well plus a bunch of players going out on loan (Januzaj).

I don't really believe any rumours until they're confirmed but still entertaining to follow.

I'm still being optimistic about De Gea's stay at Old Trafford. I understand his temptations for Real Madrid though. From what I can see, he loves playing for United, but I think he thinks the grass is greener at the Bernabeu. I also think Lloris is a long shot as is Casillas and Cech. I think if we lose De Gea, Valdes is the obvious replacement. I'd like to see United go for Bernd Leno if De Gea does leave. He has really impressed me in the few games I've seen him play.

I heard strootman had a career ending knee injury? He's been struggling with injuries for a while now. I don't think we have any chance with Pogba, Schweiny and Khedira is done. I think I read that the deal for Gundogan for 30million Euros is done. He's still 24 years old and is a fantastic player. He would be a great addition who can hopefully replace Carrick who is going to turn 34 in two months.

I think Di Maria stays another season before United decides to sell him if he's indeed unsuccessful. I have a feeling he'll be much better next season though. Januzaj needs to get loaned out. As does Wilson.

I think we sell Hernandez, Evans, Rafael, and maybe RVP if we sign a world class striker which I doubt.

I also haven't seen Otamendi play at all, but I've heard good things about him. Chris Smalling has been sensational for us especially in the second half of the season so maybe we can pair the two together. We still have Jones, Rojo, Shaw, Valencia and Blackett/Mcnair as backups.

I know LVG loves Blind, Fellaini and Young and they have played great, but I think that these players along with other players aren't good enough if we're going to seriously contend for the title as well as champions league. We need to bring in some world class players where we play more behind the defense then just crosses into Fellaini. Sometimes our offense is painfully slow and predictable. Rooney has been pretty awful the last 10-15 games. We need Di Maria to start playing like he did at Madrid and bring in a holding midfielder (like Carrick) who will control the game for us and play balls that split the defense. Herrera as good as he has been doesn't have the arsenal to play those balls.

Overall, I'm excited to see who we bring in this summer! I think we're still a year or 2 away from challenging Chelsea, but we're headed in the right direction.

I was watching a video online yesterday in which they listed Falcao, Rafael and Hernandez as being virtually guaranteed to leave, and RVP, Di Maria and Januzaj as being "likely" to leave. Personally I'd like to see us keep the younger guys like Hernandez and Januzaj (and maybe Rafael) to build around going forward. Falcao and RVP can go, and Di Maria I'm not sold on either way. LVG talks about wanting to go two-deep at every spot, so we'd have Rooney and Hernandez at striker, with Mata, Young, Depay and Januzaj at the two wing spots. I do think that Di Maria will improve, but I want to see us put time into developing the youth like Januzaj, which is why I think it may be better to move Di Maria.

Now obviously if we can get any superstar addition then the plan changes, but generally speaking, I'd like us to put more focus on developing the younger guys.

I just realized that Hernandez is the same age as Di Maria. I'd probably still keep him anyway because unlike Di Maria, he wouldn't be taking game time away from younger guys like Januzaj, Depay, etc. Well on second thought, I guess Hernandez would be in the way of Wilson getting more game time, but we probably shouldn't go too much youth-oriented.

Depay, Gundogan and Otamendi while keeping De Gea would be pretty good for me.

Am I the only one who sees nothing in Wilson? I understand he's 19, but I've seen absolutely nothing from him besides hard work on defense. I guess i'm being too harsh on him. Januzaj on the other hand has immense talent just need to mature his game a little bit to be a starter on this team.

Last report I read was that we've agreed to terms with Nicolas Gaitan, and are just waiting to finalize the deal with his club. If we really have landed him, along with Depay, then that adds to Young, Mata, Di Maria and Januzaj. With Di Maria stating that he's staying here next season, we've got six wingers on board. Januzaj can be loaned out to get more experience, but I'm still seeing a log-jam there. If we actually land Sterling as well, as has been reported, then we're looking at SEVEN guys at that spot.

He's definitely not a flashy player but he has been able to find the back of the net at the Premiership level which bodes well. I'm guessing the combination of his work rate (defensively and offensively) and taking advantage of his chances at his age is the reason for optimism. He's looking good compared to some of the bigger names that have played in the last few years as well. Falcao and Welbeck both had issues finishing.

I don't think he'll become a world beater but I could definitely see him becoming an England regular.

Official Manchester United FC Thread

Alves has reportedly signed a pre-contract deal with us as well, and will officially become a Manchester United player when he becomes a free agent in a couple of weeks.

Has anyone heard anything about this, or how accurate the report is? The guy is still a great player and guys like Valencia (if he stays at right back) and Rafael could learn a lot from him.

It's really hard for me to believe that Liverpool would be willing to transfer a talent like Sterling to Man U but if he's staying in the Premiership I guess it doesn't matter which club he goes to.

I've seen the Gaitan rumours as well but I don't know how to decipher the rumours until it's been officially confirmed. I go to caught offside for "news" and I recall last year they confirmed that Strootman was on his way to Man U.

Anyone know a quality website that's less rumour driven or is that the nature of the beast?

I've heard it but nothing confirmed. I've definitely seen some quotes from him that indicate he's on his way out from Barca but I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for Barca to retain him either.

O Globo quoted Alves in October “Next year I move to England to play in the cradle of football. This will be my last season at Barca.”

Then in May the Guardian quoted him, "“I may have two feet in the team but I’ve also got one foot, my body and nearly my head out of the club.” he said.

“I would like to stay here but not at any price. Not only in terms of money but in terms of respect. If I’m not show that respect, I’ll go to another club.” Alves added.

I was going to ask the same question regarding good news sites as opposed to sites that just recycle rumors. As of now, there's over a dozen players that we've been linked to as being "almost a done deal", and yet the only guy we've ACTUALLY signed is Depay.

I see what you're saying. He is only 19 after all so he has a high ceiling in my opinion. I think it would be great for him to put out on loan though to get more games under his belt.

Also, I watched Depay for the first time since the world cup in the USA game and he really impressed me. Sometimes makes some selfish moves and dribbles, but he is 21 after all. After getting guidance under LVG (once again) and going to a club like Manchester United will surely teach him a thing or two. I'm excited for his potential, could easily be one of the best players in the world.

I do like the lad, but I think England regular's a bit optimistic. We have a good crop of young strikers such as Kane, Berahino and Ings who are all around the same age and performing better at club level. I understand that Wilson's had a LOT less time to show his talent than those guys, though.

He could really flourish if he's loaned out somewhere for playing time, I think. One of the newly promoted sides would be a good bet.

Heh, its simple. Don't believe anything until the clubs announce it. Or like a real news site like BBC.

Well Depay is now officially a Red Devil. Now who's next?
