I've been reading this a lot, Dani Alves is off contract so it makes sense. I'm sure Barca will pull something out of their ass to replace him, they always do.

If one of Douglas and Montoya is merely decent, they'll be fine. After all, merely decent is what Dani Alves is at this point.

Adriano is a reliable veteran option as well.

apparently douglas sucks according to barca fans and montoya might be off as well.

To be fair,
They were playing with a backup team, not even backup team, more like the 3º / 4º choices.

Danilo confirmed (glad we beat some rivals to his signature, and teams that could really use a RB :D ) and Gaya's apparently rejected a contract extension offer from Valencia (reportedly because they want to up his buyout to more than 30M). Coentrao's already started talking about how great a club United is so I think a move is definitely on the cards for him. Shame, on the verge of such a great international break to find out he's not staying but oh well.

Other reported targets right now are De Gea and Vietto. That's a lot of youth to be bringing in to the side. Probably means Casillas, Arbeloa, and Coentrao are on their way out. If we recall Casemiro/buy a midfielder, that probably means Khedira and Illarramendi out as well.

Gaya? Good player. What's Florentino's plan? To stack up on fullbacks.

??? Gaya's release clause is under 20M right now. He's a Spanish talent, of course Perez would prefer to see him in white for so little.

Spending a lot of money would be a Pogba deal if anything, and we've slowly become less and less likely to sign him. Makes sense, we've got no room for more midfielders.

So far, our plans seem comparatively conservative this summer. We'll still end up spending ~100M total, but they all seem like signings to boost our depth and allow us to get rid of the dead weight that cost us when we lost key players to injury this season.

- Send out Casillas for 5-15M and buy De Gea for 30-40M.
- Send out Arbeloa for 5-10M, who we've already replaced with Danilo for 30M
- Chicharito's loan deal ends and we either buyback Morata for (can't remember if it's 25M or 35M this summer) or trigger Vietto's ~20M buyout clause
- Send out Illarramendi or Khedira for 15-25M and bring back Casemiro for free.
- Send out Coentrao for a reasonable sum and buy Gaya for under 30M
Spoiler:
Perez doesn't like signing players away from clubs under circumstances like this though, as it tends to mess up working relationships with other clubs. I expect Gaya will renew with Valencia and have a new buyout clause between 20-30M, before he makes his move.

I hope we don't lose De Gea, but it looks like it's in the cards. No Champions league, no De Gea, that's fo sho.

Madrid fans. Spending 30 mil. on a RB when you already have a solid one in Carvajal is considered conservative. No bro, it's excess spending at its absolute best!

Khedira is not getting you a single penny. The contract is up and he'll return to the Bundesliga for free.
I doubt that you will find some desperate club who pays 10 mil. for Casillas or Arbeloa, too. It could happen with Casillas but only if someone goes for the name rather than performance.

You'll probably get lucky again with some dumb, desperate English club spending 50+ mil. on one of your castoffs, though.

So yeah. German clubs are the best for this issue again. English sucks, spaniards spend a lot, germans excellent. Thats all you need to admit Steel.

lmao I've never seen so much masked hate for a club in one single post. No one said anything like this when Bayern brought Gotze into a side that had Ribery, Robben, Muller, and Kroos. No one said anything like this when Barca spent illegal money to bring in Neymar to a side that had Messi, Sanchez, Pedro, and Villa. Perhaps compared to Wolfsburg (or whichever club you support) 30M on a player like Danilo is excessive. But for a European contending team in this market, not so much.

If you think Danilo was going to cost less than 30M when he's at Porto, you're wrong. If you think other clubs wouldn't pay just as much you're wrong. If you think Arbeloa is good enough to play at Madrid, you're wrong. If you think Carvajal can last a whole season without getting injured, you're wrong. Spending 30M on Danilo when Carvajal spends large amounts of the season injured isn't a bad investment, and it's an added bonus that clubs like Bayern and Barca, who could use a RB, lose out on him.

You also failed to mention Coentrao and Illarramendi, the two players most likely to leave this summer. If we sell both and get less than 30M between the two of them, I won't say another word. Both are on contract till summer 2019.

:rofl2:
The same castoff that everyone couldn't shut up about two years ago? Hell, even during the world cup people jumped back on the Ozil bandwagon. Or did you mean Di Maria, who had even more hype going for him throughout last year? It's not luck when players that perform incredibly well in a great system get sold because they're surplus to requirement, then fail to perform in a crappier system with worse players around them.

Just admit it man. Buli teams are the best. Face the reality of realgm soccer board. Everything is good at buli even though they won the cl only once in past 15 years. But yeah buli teams are the best. They don't spend, they score a lot, they dont like defense, they are the definition of winners. Admit it and move on man.
