As a Brazilian I have to say I didn't like the game. Croatia got robbed. Brazil was average to bad. The only guy who had a good game was Oscar. Don't feel like we deserved to win at all.

That one was guardable as well.

Just the first game, though. WC is just like that. One day Spain is drawing with Switzerland 1-1 on the first game, then the Cup playing ugly. One day Italy plays awful against USA in the first game, winners. Brazil wins just like that against Turkey in 2002 - started losing, come back with a bad penalty call - winners.

That is WC by definition. The team that better develops during the tournament - and is able to win playing bad football - wins it all, that's quite simple, and that's why Italy and Germany have 7 combined without having any sort of golden generation.

Oscar, Neymar, Gustavo & Luiz were excellent for Brasil.

I won't disagree, but that was an unpredictable shot by Oscar. The obvious play was to roll to an open Fred in his left, the less obvious but still obvious was to shoot with the left foot and a diagonal. He picked the most awkward option, the "biquinho" (we call in Brazil).

Guardable but he has the excuse of being a totally unexpected shot.

Excellent is too far. Oscar was excellent.

Gustavo had a great second half, but didn't play any coverage on Alves or Marcelo's runs (typical role for a Brazilian DM - cover the full backs) forward on the first, and Croatia took advantage of that to score on Alves' back.

Neymar was good on the first half, but quite timid on the second. I don't like Luiz at all, but he was much better than Thiago Silva, which I can do nothing but love ( def not because of today, though).

Bernard played well too.

just disappointed that the first major thing to happen at the world cup is some awful officiating.

Croatia got done in by some terrible officiating. But nonetheless, Oscar in particular was magnificent that game, didn't think Hulk/Fred/Neymar posed any threats. Especially in the 2nd half, Oscar literally carried that attack.

It's a shame that the officiating will overshadow what an amazing game Oscar had today. MOTM by far.

If it was up my idea for it would be similar. I would maybe add the Tennis like: If you were right when you contest the decision you still keep the challenge

Oscar is a great sidekick.

It's a shame that he will be in Neymar's shadow for his whole Brazil career. Kinda like Rivaldo was to Ronaldo.

Oscar had a phenomenal match. Neymar relieved a lot of pressure off himself.

Croatia needs to switch goalies.

With that said, Croatia got robbed. That Japanese ref can't officiate any more matches.

Oscar looked like a stud. Him and Neymar are going to cause problems for any defence. Brazil's problems are at the back. They're gonna' give up a lot of chances. First game jitters, maybe, but they'll need to tighten up. Neymar's gonna' score a lot, if he can stay on the field.

How many chances did they give ?3? And all came in first 25 minutes or when they retreated at the end. They have the best defender in the world and his mates are not too shabby either, their defense will be fine.

It was a classic 'puntertje' as the Dutch call it, taken with the tip of the foot, t'was indeed rather classic, don't see that a lot anymore.

Other than that, the game was spoiled completely by a very poor refereeing performance, did not help the allegations of corruption in FIFA one bit this man.

i don't think he would've made a big difference tbh, they had adequate replacement
