lmaoooo
There is a reality of Arda Turan, Burak Yilmaz, Selcuk Inan and Hakan Calhanoglu in Turkish national team. Therefore; Ilkay would probably the fifth or sixth best player in our squad.
So yeah anyway.. Germans know how to win, spend, play etc etc. They are best and everything they do is great.

Re: Transfer Thread 10.0- January 2015
I did forget Inan, so Ilkay is the second best center mid in the world I guess, still not a shocker that Pogba couldn't compare before his injuries though. It's that turkish DNA that makes him a winner like the Turkish NT or Gala.

How does anyone in their right mind possibly forget about Xelcuk?

Well he's so obvious the best midfielder on the planet that I don't even list him in my mind anymore and so generally just start my lists with #1 meaning the best midfielder after Inan...

All of our basketball teams suck, can we please leave that to the other parts of this forum?

Re: Transfer Thread 10.0- January 2015
British tabloid rumours of a Hazard/Bale (plus cash, i think?) swap. This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but i would do it in a heartbeat for Chelsea. Fairly sensible move for Real Madrid as well, now that Ronaldo is pretty much a central player. You could maintain the shape and style at all times with Hazard, James, and Isco in place.
I assume it's highly unlikely to happen, but Mourinho's recent comment about the price of Hazard's one leg got me thinking that might have been a strategic comment toward extracting as much money from Madrid as possible.

Hazard for Bale? Interesting. I guess it could work for both teams.
What does Hazard offer that Madrid don't really have though? Isco has similar ball control and James similar scoring and creating. I guess it makes sense if they want to keep that 433 or move Ronaldo more central

Re: Transfer Thread 10.0- January 2015
Bale would be a dream signing, but I think the goal should be to buy him without giving up Hazard. Money won't be a problem after the new deals, but if Real insist on Hazard, we should just target someone else. I'd rather spend 50M on Sterling and keep Hazard than give him to Real tbh.

To be honest, i think we're both putting in too much thought at the tactical reasoning for such a move. Let's face it, if Real do pursue Hazard it will be because Florentino wants the fanciest toy of the day, not because their technical staff has identified him as the ideal target.
Although my thinking was that the move would allow them to play a 4-4-2 at all times, if that is what they wish. Hazard may have some defensive issues but he is better suited to the role than Bale is. He does have a less direct side to him that isn't always on display at Chelsea, and with him on board they'd have three players to rotate for those two wide positions.
Signing Hazard could also unleash the following combination.
Code: Select all
Isco James Hazard
RonaldoI'd pay good money to watch that unfold.

I think that would be a very unwise move on Bale's part. Going from one tactically questionable arrangement where he doesn't even receive enough focus to justify his status to another is pointless. He might well do it if he prefers to live in London though.
I'm also sceptical on Mourinho's potential interest level. As far back as i can recall, he's always used one winger as a defensive counterbalance.

If we were to get Bale without giving up Hazard
, I think it could very well be a quartet of Costa, Hazard, Bale and Willian frequently switching positions. They all have experience playing both centrally and out-wide. A lot will also depend on aging Ivanovic who probably won't be going farther up the pitch as often.

Do you really think there's a way for you to get Bale without offsetting cost in a post-FFP transfer market? No Luiz to cash in on
I must admit, I'm not keen on a swap of the two at all, though Zidane seems to be launching his whole charm offensive on the Hazard front again. If you look at the stats of Bale in a year when he's dealt with a lot of criticism, he's scored just as many goals (while only taking 1 pen) and only has 1 less assist, in less minutes played. It's a mistake if you ask me- we'd have a better, more technically gifted side with Hazard for sure but Isco is so similar to Hazard, just a year younger, often referred to as the future of Spanish football, and not being given the same opportunity.
**** thing is that politically, Hazard would get the opportunity that Isco isn't getting because we'd be spending heavy to bring him over... If Kroos were more comfortable at DM then I'd be more open to a 4231 with Kroos and Isco behind Ronaldo-Hazard-James, but that's just way too exposed of a midfield. I'm sure Perez is thinking about it though.

New mega TV & sponsorship deals, huge Torres money finally coming off the books, well-managed finances last few years; we should easily be able to afford a superstar signing or 2 without selling anyone let alone our best player who doesn't even want to leave. Only question is whether we want to destroy the wage structure and pay Bale 300k a week

Re: Transfer Thread 10.0- January 2015
Between Isco and James, I feel like we've got two players (both younger than Hazard) that more than make up for what Bale lacks technically. Not to mention how Bale's speed and goal-scoring more than make up for what he lacks technically to begin with. Don't see him leaving so soon.
Perez is loathe to let go of his Galacticos- look at how long it took him to really give up on Kaká, who had significant problems that were much worse than a simple drop off in form and a few missed sitters. If Bale wants out, that's another story. I think right now, Isco is the one we've really got to worry about leaving, because he's clearly the one who's spot in the XI hinges on someone else being injured, which he's naturally voiced his displeasure with. Anyways, all the top sides have a player or two that functions similar to Isco, so I don't see him moving anywhere.
EDIT:
In other news, Casillas has reportedly been given his marching orders. Couple that with the reports that DDG is turning down big money from United and his move is just about confirmed. I'd have preferred we let Keylor move somewhere he'd be properly appreciated and keep Casillas on as a backup/mentor, but what do I know.

Re: Transfer Thread 10.0- January 2015
Hazard's a significantly better dribbler than James. In terms of dribbling and getting fouled, Messi and Robben are the only top class players who can compare.
