Embarrassing to play like we're afraid of a pub team like Scotland. At least they showed some passion.

I think England's problems are more systemic than simply a coaching change though. Not that a better manager couldn't help - it obviously would - but the underlying problem for England's consistent underachievement is trying to craft a team from a sub-developed talent pool. England's grassroots talent is probably as good as any other European state's, but it will remain chronically sub-developed at the senior level, I think, so long as the Premier League continues to have a sharply negative trade balance when you tally the imports vs exports of its players and managers.

For instance, right now I can't name a single English football manager coaching a relevant team abroad. My assumption is that this decades long outsourcing of the premier league's footballing IQ has its costs. And its hard for good but-not-yet-great English players to become great when they have to compete against imports while they themselves don't tend to seek employment in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, etc.

This is because they can earn so much more by staying in England.

I wouldn't know the average numbers, but among the highest paid managers in the world there's a healthy mix of Spanish, Italian, and German league managers as well. My hunch is that there is a comparative lack of managerial brainstrust among English managers and I think this maps on well to what we see on the pitch and the dependency on imported managers.

German commentator has brought out the „for Eriksen“ narrative so annoyingly often that I almost cant like this team anymore.

Denmark vs Wales in the next round.
Should be easy for Denmark.

Maehle is becoming my new favorite Danish player. Kid is fearless. Constantly probing that left wing, wonderful dribbling skills and can finish too! Danes beat Wales in Eurocup twice so I think they are happy with their opponent in playoffs.

We are through. Tears are falling - would think we won the entire thing, lol. But seriously. So happy we did it.

I had a dream Germany wins Euro 2020. Müller with the winning goal. Place your bets!

Schick against Scotland will most likely win the goal of the tournament, but that Christensen thunderbolt coupled with the crowd reaction may be my favorite. That's gotta be the best feeling in the world to score a goal like that.

I don't think it's as easy as you make out.

There is also a massive turnover of these "imported" managers which would infer that they fail regularly. All countries have good managers, finding the right fit is not so easy.

Leicester's starting keeper against Leicester's reserve keeper. Has that ever happened in the knockout stage before?

Saka is running rampant on that right flank. Almost makes up for no Sancho!

Much better so far from England. Moving the ball faster, exploiting the space.

Saka and Grealish have been excellent. With those two our forwards are getting service, and Kane has been unlucky not to score.

They were good for maybe 20 minutes, then it became more of the same.

One might have thought that since England didn't need a result, they might come out and see if they could play football. But nope, not in the team's DNA.

German, Spanish and Italian managers have been the best in the world for awhile. An English manager didn't win a champions league since1980's. that's saying something. If you count the entire UK then Sir Alex won it most recently. I can't think of any English manager that is world-class(There is none) and I think everyone is aware of this issue.

Only Italy and Holland really look like they enjoy playing the euros.
