And James and Isco. And that's just to play the two center positions...

With Khedira out, Illarramendi is the only proper option for the defenisve midfield part, isn't he? Another one would be quite handy.

Ah man lol... well there goes that idea...

Illarra seems like the most logic call, how odd this happens AFTER the window closes... bad luck...

I would see if Isco could make the change to play that role.... it would get him a LOT of playing time if he could switch his style...

It's nothing a pinch of Galactico can't solve. I imagine Florentino is already trying to decide whether to go after Reus or Hazard in January.

weird balance to their team now , can't believe they made such huge changes to a CL winning team that already lacked balance as is. Going to be interesting to see how ancelloti copes. He can't be too happy with the alonso sale. They lose khedira for free next summer too

I'm surprised that anybody thinks Real Madrid ever strives for balance, ha. They just buy every attacker on the planet.

I want one my fellow Uruguayans to join Real at defense, I would like Caceras to join since he would take Coentrao/Marcelo's spot.

Anyhoot, the next "move" for Real should come within, Navas for Casillas n Varane for Pepe...

Ancelotti has lots of work to do...

we kicked out Ozil in favour of Di Maria and his work rate last summer :dontknow: from time to time a Varane or Sergio Ramos finds their way into the lineup.

and we didn't exactly push Di Maria and Xabi out the door. Di Maria was insulted by a 12M/year wage packet and Xabi wanted a change of scenery (probably after realizing how much more work it would be to cover the defense with Kroos and Modric as his partners).

Also, I don't know how much credibility I'd give it but AS ran a story about how Carlo is persistent on using Pepe and Ramos as the CB pair because he wants Varane playing CDM, the position he grew up playing. I could get on board with that but we don't have enough cover (Nacho is dependable in a jiffy but if any of Varane/Ramos/Pepe go down we're done with that scheme)

Hello fellas.

Sad to head things are not looking great so far, but things will get better. Madrid always starts off slow. Last year the team started slow and got better later on. There is a lack of balance for sure. A Modric and
Kroos double pivot is not good and James has not been able to play his natural position. He plays well out of LW or behind the striker, but he's played in different positions every game. He has always been a slow starter in his clubs but always finds a way to succeed.

Jesé returned to training yesterday

Ancelotti reportedly considering shifting Bale to the spot Di Maria occupied behind Ronaldo last year. Don't think he's got the discipline or work rate but he's definitely got the speed. That would probably mean playing some kind of 442

And if Marca's to be believed then we're putting in a bid for Kramer. Not sure how to react to that one yet.

Jese returning brings a smile to a degree for me.... I've been a Benzema fan n supporter for awhile but over the last two years, I'm on the point of bailing on him. I'm tired of him NOT picking it up... he'll have his good stretches but never put something consistent IMHO and I'm done with that... Locking him up for that long was a poor decision. Should chase Sturridge as I think he would bring more to the game even if he wasn't touching the ball rather than stand around Benz.

Ancelotti needs to really redesign this team... unfortunately its too much attacking minded players so it could be frustrating. Bale needs to play a little more two way, I agree with that. He's shown to be a good passer and with his speed and ball placement from the wings, not only will he get more involved in the game but could set up Ronaldo or Benz very well.

Keep James & Kroos behind the attack.

Kramer... well its defensive. May mean Kroos or Modric to the bench...

Kind of irritating that Olympiacos got 3 points at home from Atleti and we couldn't. Not fooled by today's result either, I knew we'd steamroll through sides like Basel and some of La Liga's bottom feeders with the talent in our attack+midfield, but we've got to find a more balanced way to organize our midfield.

I really liked what I saw from Nacho. One of the few guys talented enough to leave the club but chooses to stick around and play a bit-part role to help the team. Marcelo shaky as usual in defense and did well in attack, nothing new. Solid game from James, his goal was sort of a poacher's goal but hope to see more performances like this from him. Varane's slip up was a bit concerning, could've been a costly error. Casillas is still awful. Hope Illarramendi showed enough in his limited minutes to warrant a place in the XI this weekend but I doubt it happens. Benzema was decent. That one-two he had with Ronaldo was brilliant; not many strikers with that kind of link up ability, and the goal was something else.

Can't wait for Illarramendi to join Liverpool next summer.

He's had good games in La Liga; our side looked a lot better last year when we took Ramos out of midfield and put on illarramendi in the first Clasico of the 13-14 season. He's a very easy to press hence why Carlo doesn't trust him against Atleti, and why he looked so bad against Dortmund.

Varane renewed untill 2020

Also our youth team beat Basel's in the mini UCL, and one of our strikers scored a double kick :o

Happy to see Varane being locked up til 2020 but it would be a waste if Ancelotti wasn't giving him more playing time... the guy needs the PT and has played very well when given it.

He's going to be one of the main guys for the French NT so don't carelessly let him rot in the bench.
