I didn't see the game, so can someone give us a run-down of what happened and what chances we missed, specifically the Rooney goal?

Rooney's offside goal was CLOSE. We're talking about millimeters here. I wouldn't blame anyone for arguing for either side. We started off the first 15minutes with 6-7 shots I believe. Looked really good and Rooney even taking shots from 25 yards out granted it was right at Krul. Mata had a good shot near post from the right side which was an excellent save by Krul. Then Newcastle actually started getting into the game and United didn't get much. Newcastle put in a cross and was headed by Mitrovic (who I was pretty impressed with) which hit the top right cross bar. We honestly should have been down even after dominating possession and chances. Second half was much slower paced, but we started to push once chicha came in and we were starting to run out of time. Chicha had a 1v1 with Krul which was again an amazing save by Krul. Smalling also had a header from a corner cleared off the line and Newcastle should have scored a 3v1 at the end of the game where we were unfortunate.

Overall, we looked better than the first 3 games for sure. The finishing touch is still glaring, but it's getting there. I felt like even though we had 19 shots, Newcastle had 2 great chances and either team could have easily won the game. Starting Schweinsteiger was definitely huge for us. He didn't actually play side by side with Schneiderlin but instead went up more to support the attack while Schneiderlin covered the defense. Hopefully Rooney can end his goal drought (700+minutes) on Tuesday. Liverpool is coming up in a week or two we have to get ready!

Disappointed we weren't able to take the 3 points in a game which we pretty much dominated, possession-wise at least.

I love Memphis' aggressiveness, but I think he's a bit too selfish at times. Overall I thought our squad looked sharper than previously. It's still early on in the season so I think LvG will figure it out and the offense will start clicking.

After earning their spot with a convincing 4-0 (7-1) win over Club Brugge Wednesday, here's how the groups look for the 2015-2016 UCL. Thoughts?

I certainly like our chances to get through. Do we matchup with group A in the quarters?

I think we're expected to come out of that group in 1st place. Obviously for Wolfsburg, De Bruyne is a huge factor. Going to Moscow to play a game is tough for any team and PSV is obviously Depay's old home. I am excited we're finally back in CL!!

Thinking about it, I believe quarter finals would be a good goal for our team currently with the amount of teams better than us on paper this year. Who knows what can happen! I don't know about you guys, but I personally want to draw Real Madrid with De Gea on our side and beat them over 2 legs :)

does anyone doubt that RvP could still start every game for us right now? damn, we sure miss him.

i think we desperately need to focus on signing a striker as well as Cillisen from Ajax. I would also love Marco Reus on the right wing but i doubt that happens. he would actually be a perfect player for LvG because he can play multiple positions.

TBH I only know him from Fifa, and he's been a **** monster for me there. I like to play a season or two with some **** team where I grab a bunch of the kids from around the world and run with them.

As for Man U, do we put him up front or on the wing? I dunno.

I like that we are adding pace, but with the sale of Chicharito and the loan of Januzah, it reduces a bit of the log jam up with the forwards. But we are really short of strikers. Is Wilson getting loaned too? And I do not like Rooney at the 9. He loses the ball too easily. He's a 10.

I think Januzah got a shot early in the season to see if he can contribute, and since he couldn't he got shipped out and Herrera takes his spot. Although I think Rooney should be in that spot and we have a real number 9. Which I don't know if we have.

Sorry, back to Martial as I'm all over the place here, I do like that we are looking at getting quality, young kids, regardless of the stupid price that we have/choose to pay. Panic buy, maybe, but my Fifa experience has told me (lol meaning I have no idea) that this is a kid that can play, and if he pans out and plays for us in some position for say 8 years, the cost is worth it.

We still need a real number 9, at least one, and we need to figure out the **** goalie. Romero is a tuna.

I think RVP could start for us, but he's done in this league. So that reflects poorly on both him and us. Mostly us. Yuck.

I haven't seen martial play AT ALL so I can't really say much but I think I read he's played 52 professional games? The most expensive teenager ever more than shaw or Rooney or Ramos... Unless he really turns out to be even half of Henry this is a pretty steep price to pay for a 19 year old.

Anyways I also was disgusted reading the Reus rumors. I would happily pay even more than 60mil pounds for Reus. Jersey sales and the popularity of the player alone would cover that and he's one of my favorite players not to mention extremely talented. Too bad it's probably all rumors. I don't see why he would leave Dortmund for United at this point.

Overall very disappointing end of transfer window I'm looking forward to martial play though and to see how we cope until January.

Reus makes no sense for United...they just signed Depay.

I mean obviously you could sign him but that would mean you are playing one of these two out of position.

Sure its not a perfect fit by any means, but when a world-class player like Reus is available, you do it regardless of the fit especially when United has had trouble attracting talent over the past few years. Reus can play the 10 role or maybe move Mata to the middle and have them on either side. There's one of many different kinds of things the team can do but his talent is undeniable. We just spent 70mil Euros on a 19 year old who from what I read is best on the wing spot as well. Reus would have been brilliant.

On a separate note, what do you guys think happens to De Gea? Do you think he plays until January or end of the season or will he be benched for the entire season?

Reus was never going to MU. Possibly a Real move a year from now depending on how stuff plays out for them, but I don't see him going to england, and not MU if he does.

Real Madrid will basically buy whoever is going to be the star of the Euros next year.

I'm not sure if Reus is a true Galactico. Is he big enough etc.
