FT, 2-1 loss. The first XI took 30min to wake up, then played well for 10min. The second XI in the second half were disgraceful, same as last year.

I just looked at the list of players available for that match and it didn't look pretty at all. If we lose Cesc and Nasri, Wenger better have something better than Scott Dann up his sleeve. If Gervinho is his only real signing this summer, then AW needs to be replaced because it would be obvious that he's making Arsenal into the LA Clippers of the EPL...make money first and then win championships...but only if you can make money doing it.

@obutler
Oliver Butler
So #Arsenal friendlies 4-0 win; 2-0 up, win 2-1; 2-0 up, draw 2-2, 1-0 up, draw 1-1; 1-0 up, lose 2-1. I can see a pattern. Next up #nufc!

The second half team was very young, so it was kind of expected. I am really worried about the DM position though. Frimpong is no where ready, the game passed by him in the second half very easily. When Song goes off to ACN, we are going to be in trouble. Also Jenkinson looks a bit shaky and need to buy another CB, going to have heart attack if I have to watch a lot more of Squallici.

Also the saga with Cesc has got to end. Arsenal should have put a deadline for Barcelona to meet their valuation. If they didn't meet up, tell the to f**K off and tell Cesc he is going to be here for the year.

On another note Gerviniho looked good in the first half. Its good to have another direct winger.

Gotta love pointless international friendlies days before the season starts.

Terms being widely reported as 12 million pounds up-front, 3 million in add-ons (and depending on the source, a 40% sell-on fee). Great deal from Southampton's perspective, if that's true; AOC is an extremely talented player, and could become a top-notch winger or attacking midfielder, but that kind of cash might get them back to the EPL.

Sounds pretty fair to me, I like Chamberlain a lot. I think he'll be a star for us.

My only concern would be that he seems to get crunched a lot, though that might owe partially to the fact that the pace differential between he and the average League 1 full-back left them little other choice. Isn't fragile, but might be a little too brave for his own good at times.

We should set the Fabregas deadline at the first CL game: Give us 40m pounds, or we put Cesc in the squad and make him ineligable for Champions League action with Barca.

I know this will never happen, but if we do sell Fabregas I'd like to see us get Sneijder, we'd still end up with a profit and end up with another world class creating midfielder.

Yeah, he looks pretty sturdy though. Certainly stronger, and hopefully less injury prone, than Walcott.
He looks to be going straight into the first team, but I imagine he won't see much more than cup games, and the odd bench appearance his first year.

Anyone know what's happening with Francis Coquelin? I assumed he'd be out on loan again, but I haven't heard anything. He looks farther a long than Frimpong, certainly more technically gifted, and smarter on the ball, but he doesn't seem to have a chance at the first team this year.

Despite the fact that Sneijder harbors a grudge against Van Persie and wouldn't pass him the ball during the World Cup?
