I've always found this to be a sloppy way of conceding the argument. But Berti Vogts apologists relied on it for years; so what do I know, since I'm no DFB coach...

I wouldn't worry about Lowe. I have a feeling that if he doesn't win the Euro Cup he will step down. He has done a great job with this squad albeit critical errors in past tournaments. I actually think that him winning the Euro Cup would perfectly end his career.

You are a lot more optimistic than I am on this front. As long as we make it out of the group I can't see Jogi stepping down; he is already covering his ass for any potential failures in France by talking about how these euros are just a tune up for the WM defense in Russia. We're stuck with him for at least these next two tourneys unless they embarrass themselves so badly that even the feckless DFB has no choice but to **** Jogi.

Not happy our u17s lost to Mexico. They have the talent to challenge France and Nigeria, but I wanted to see more desperation. At least Eggestein keeps scoring; 4 goals in 3 for the German-Bergkamp; that kid is going to be so special if he keeps on developing.

Bad news for Germany

Yes we got him. He said I want to play for Turkey because I feel Turkish more than German. He also stated that he wouldn't be able to celebrate if he scores against Turkey as a German player but he would celebrate his ass off if he scores against Germany as a Turkish player.

Good for him. Welcome to our team brother. You shall have a blast in the summer.

Wasn't this already announced, I could've sworn I had already read this somewhere? Either way good for him, kid's a real talent and he'll get a real chance to shine for the turks if he keeps developing well.

As for it being bad news, eh. He would've been nice to have down the line, but there's a lot of quality at the spots he plays already there, and even more on its way. So it's probably best for him to join our C-team...or does Malli, Calhanoglu, Tasci, and Tore move them past the US in german-developed players?

Respect for him if he really feels that way. You guys could be a fun team if you could keep this whole actually qualifying for tourney's and playing up to your talent thing up.

A hot month doesn't make him a player who should play for the German NT.
He remains a fairly mediocre player until he can repeat that performance at least every second month.

Eh.

Well, if he'd be able to play as a fullback or striker(that fits in a modern system) it could be bad news but not for an offensive midfielder.
We currently have boatloads of those and I doubt that Malli would be the difference of Germany winning something or not.

NO! We're screwed! Who are we going to play now, with no Malli?

I dunno if he ever thrives leading the line, but I can see him becoming a dangerous wide forward or second striker who can give you a secondary source of goals.

He's definitely not a striker.

mario gomez is back with the national team. surely, süperlig = best league
on a serious note, i am happy for him. i am feeling though, that he is only on the team to compensate for kroos, özil and reus not being there and he wont get nominated in a a few months.

Will be interesting how much this whole saga will do to the national team's popularity in Germany.

While I'm happy for anyone to overcome that many injuries; Gomez really hurts our NT when he plays because of how he clogs the box. It's one thing to let him be in the team and even come on late in a game so they can practice playing with a plan B, but Jogi should've been using the time since the WC developing this team towards the 4-3-1-2 that he touched on in Brazil when we played our best. And for that we need skilled and mobile forwards like Mueller, Reus, Kruse, Volland; not an ox like the Mez.

I had a bad feeling about this game as soon as I heard of the bomb threats earlier today. Now there are reports of explosions outside of the stadium and people are apparently not allowed to leave the stadium. It's really strange.
