Juve had their first friendly against a real team yesterday, and they drew 0-0 with Hamburg. Obviously nothing can be concluded from this, but they were surprisingly organized defensively..they had trouble attacking but hopefully that will come with time.
I really hope Lanzafame gets playing time all season. He started on the wing and he is a superstar, you guys will love him :)

Marquez won his first trophies with Barcelona playing as a defensive mid, but he's been playing as a centerback with them for a few years now, and still does. With Mexico, he played as a midfielder because quite frankly, he's lost a step or two.

Besides that, holding midfielders are the new sweepers.

So...tell me about Giovinco

Giovinco in my opinion is the best player Juve has besides Buffon/Chiellini...Unfortunately past coaches have not agreed.
He is 23 years old and extremely similar to a certain Lionel Messi; coaches are too scared to play him due to his lack of his size. The fact that he is weak is his only weakness, but almost every time he's came in for Juve he has impressed. He can play as a winger on either side, preferably left, but he is best in the trequarista role behind the forwards. Juve is likely to let him go this season, probably (and hopefully) only on loan for a year to somewhere like Bari or Parma...middle of the table teams where he will be very important.
His biggest problem though was that they bought Diego, who was always preferred over him in the trequarista spot last year..and when Diego and half of the other starters went down with injury, so did Giovinco, ruining his few chances to shine.

also, Iaquinta went down with injury on his first day back at training. He'll be out for around a month...
They really must get a new forward cause all these guys are washed up (Del Piero, Amauri, Trez, Iaquinta) and will be hurt throughout the year.

Not so well. I think Juve would sell him right away if someone was offering something that's anywhere near the price they paid for him.

I'm sick of Juve letting go of their talent. They should keep Giovinco, especially in a time like this.

Diego was great when the season started, but it went worse after he got injured.

Diego started off well fell off quickly after. It was hard for him or anyone to stick out this past season though. Now with Del Neri as coach it is uncertain whether he fits the coach's plans, as he prefers a traditional 4-4-2 with no attacking center mids...so theres a lot of rumors of him leaving before the upcoming season

I know it :noway:
Maybe a year at Parma, Bari, or Genoa (the 3 teams most interested in him) would allow us to see how good he can be. It seems to be either that or he continues to rot on our bench :-?

Also, we bought Marco Motta which is good at the right back position, but for a similar amount we could have kept Martin Caceres who is just as young and I think it better.

We elected to not buy Candreva as well... :-?

Juve will play Shamrock on July 29 and August 5 for Europa League qualification. They are the best team as of right now in Ireland, and are in form as they are in mid season. We are out of form and have some new players, a new coach, and a lot of uncertainties about who may come and go... qualification is no guarantee.

I'm glad we'll be able to watch a couple meaningful games before the season starts though.

Also, tomorrow is a friendly game against Lyon.

If they can't qualify, they shouldn't bother coming back to Italy.

Seems like Diego does not want to stay in Turino. Christian Nerlinger, manager of Bayern Munich said today that he has been contacted by EIGHT(!) different agents about Diego and all thought he would be all over Diego. :P

Juve beat Lyon yesterday 2-1. They got scored on by a penatly, Del Piero scored another penalty to tie it up, and Pepe scored the winner. (Lyon got a red card in the first half.) Diego was the best on the field, him and Trez came on second half for Del Piero and Amauri. Motta and Sissoko also had very good games.
We played well the entire game

I really hope Diego stays...

Reportedly a handful of offers for Trezeguet have been turned down. Isn't that dude on his last legs? If there was ever a time to sell it would be now IMO.

I love Trez and he still got game left in him...but if we sold him and got someone younger I wouldn't have been upset

I think Trezeguet is a good player to have on the bench. He could still have some glorious moments.

Any updates on Buffon?

I am waiting for better updates on him, but he'll be out probably until December. We bought Storari to start in his absense

Russian newspapers reported Krasic will go to Juve by the end of the week for 15-17 million euro...

They are also looking for a left back (which they need the most, de ceglie and grosso ain't cuttin it)...we are after Clichy or Aogo.

I would not mind this at all:
-----------------Buffon (Storari till he comes back)
Motta Bonucci Chiellini Aogo/Clichy
Krasic Sissoko Marchisio Lanzafame (Pepe)
-------------------------Diego(DelPiero)
--------Amauri(Trez)
